Race 1. (13:11) Lest We Forget Hcp (68) 1200m
3 Hypernova (Bet Now: $SP.00) is hard to beat for the Jolly/Potter camp. He resumed two weeks back over 1100m here when back in a slowly run race. He was never a winning threat, but I did like the way he finished his race off. Fitter, 1200m, more genuine tempo, he takes beating.
10 Shadow Eagle (Bet Now: $SP.00) is knocking on the door. He ran second to Regal Secret a fortnight back, sitting just off speed before being presented clear air and wound up with purpose but couldn’t quite reel in Regal Secret. Racing well and commands respect.
9 Regal Secret (Bet Now: $SP.00) was an impressive track/distance winner from two weeks ago. She landed on speed and despite the break between runs, she was strong and impressive in the run to the line. Good upside/improvement to come, she takes beating.
Race 2. (13:46) Breeders' Stakes 1200m
1 Ole Go (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be better for the first up run in the Without Fear. He was keen but trucking on speed and was there to win but first up, I think condition just gave out late when a narrow second to Verzain. Fitter, 1200m is fine, he’ll take beating.
6 Verzain (Bet Now: $SP.00) won the Without Fear, with race fitness and better run in transit being the main keys for her in getting the win I thought. Better set up for the favourite but hard to knock this girl and how strong she was to the line says 1200m is no issue.
3 Czech Out (Bet Now: $SP.00) ran an eye catching third in the Without Fear when first up. A near rank outsider, he got back to near last in the run but worked home with real purpose when third. Like him up to 1200m, he’s in the mix.
Race 3. (14:22) Chairman's Stakes 2000m
It’s hard to get away from 2 McWoody (Bet Now: $SP.00) and what he did two weeks ago in the Port Adelaide Guineas. He was ridden like a moral, sitting wide no cover for the trip, and in the end, he won like a moral, getting better as the race went on and was strong to/through the line. Extra 200m, hard fit…I think good luck beating him.
5 Engine Of War (Bet Now: $SP.00) commands respect. He is third up and should just about be ready re fitness levels. He was a total forgive at Caulfield last time after getting off speed and not getting the clearest of paths. Think he is on track and can take this out.
1 Autumn Mystery (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be hard to beat after racing in the Easter Cup when thrown in the deep end, outclassed on paper, but I thought didn’t disgrace himself in defeat behind Ambassadorial. Hard fit, back to his own age, he commands respect.
Race 4. (14:57) Queen Of The South Stakes 1600m
7 Private Legacy (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a great each way gamble. She ran in the City Of Adelaide two weeks ago where she got back to near last in the run but worked home well enough in defeat behind Arran Bay. Back to Mares grade, getting towards peak fitness, she is a good each way speck for mine.
1 Rumbled Again (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a quality mare that should appreciate getting to the mile after resuming over 1400m in the Victoria Handicap where she got back near last in the run and was good late I thought despite never threatening. Fitter, mile, back to Mares grade and gets Williams aboard.
9 World’s My Oyster (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate getting back to Mares grade. She was thrown in the deep end when resuming in the City Of Adelaide. She was off speed and never really featured in a race dominated on speed. Not dismissing her.
Race 5. (15:32) John Hawkes Stakes 1100m
4 Niance (Bet Now: $SP.00) has class on her side and that is going to carry her a long way. Her last run was the Spring at Caulfield in the Schillaci when far from disgraced in defeat behind Giga Kick. Looks to have jumped out really well and despite the weight, she clearly commands respect.
2 Watchme Win (Bet Now: $SP.00) takes beating for Andrew Gluyas. He resumed in the Irwin a fortnight back and drove hard late from off speed but just couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to WA mare Super Smink. Better for the run, can settle closer, he takes holding out.
11 Losesomewinmore (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Team Jolly trained gelding that is first up. He hasn’t raced since Aug 2 when a strong winner down the straight at Flemington, finishing best to win and win well. Liked his recent trial and despite rising to Stakes grade, I think he can measure up.
Race 6. (16:07) Tobin Bronze Stakes 1200m
11 Ferivia (Bet Now: $SP.00) each way for me. She has had two runs back from a spell, both at Caulfield and each time she has raced on terrible tracks, so I want to be very forgiving. Had trialled like a rocket prior so I am not dismissing her and think she’s worthy of a speck.
2 Tycoon Star… (Bet Now: $SP.00) if you backed him his past two, you’d be forgiven for wanting to give up betting. How he hasn’t won both races, no idea. Nabbed right on the peg at Flemington and it was similar in the Redelva from two weeks ago. Bursting to win, he commands respect.
7 Mathematician (Bet Now: $SP.00) has an engine under the hood and I want to be forgiving of his Redelva effort given he was back and wide, and didn’t really have a horse to drag him into the race. Better for the run, his best is good enough to be dangerous.
Race 7. (16:42) Australasian Oaks 2000m
I honestly think it is a case of good luck beating 2 Getta Good Feeling (Bet Now: $SP.00). 2/2 this time, winning first up over a sprint trip before going to the mile at Caulfield where she gave them a start and a beating despite conceding decent weight. Hard fit now, up to a pet trip, set weights, sense of timing…she looks lengths better than these.
4 Panova (Bet Now: $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since contesting the Vinery Stud when back off speed and tried to get involved but just whacked in the run to the line. Like her with fresh legs into this, she gets J Mac on and her best is clearly good enough.
11 Kazaru (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the one from the Auraria. She was fresh and got back to near last in the run but really liked the way she finished her race off in defeat behind Mating Call. Like her up to 2000m with the run under the belt, she appeals.
Race 8. (17:18) Robert Sangster Stakes 1200m
7 Flying For Fun (Bet Now: $SP.00) is very dangerous here. Total forgive/forget run in the Sapphire two weeks back when four wide no cover the trip and the hard run told when down the track. If she can get cover, a drag into the race, she has the change up speed to be very dangerous.
17 Point Barrow (Bet Now: $SP.00) is five weeks between runs since an impressive win at Caulfield. Admittedly, she didn’t beat much, but she gave them a start and a beating, and conceded weight in the process. She’ll likely sit off this speed and can really unleash. She’s right in the mix.
6 Bridal Waltz (Bet Now: $SP.00) tried her guts out in The Galaxy several weeks ago. Thought she was there to win but she just couldn’t quite get there in a blanket finish behind Marhoona. Better suited here I feel, she commands respect.
Race 9. (17:48) Thomas Farms Hcp 1600m
3 Goldrush Guru (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one of the more interesting runners on the card. He hasn’t really fired since his 3YO Spring campaign but is a class horse when right and despite being poor in the Spring, he has looked strong in trial work for the return, so watch betting.
1 Chicago Storm (Bet Now: $SP.00) should run really well here for mine. He ran two weeks ago in the City Of Adelaide when just off speed and tried hard but was no match for the first two in Arran Bay and Cash. Getting towards peak fitness, should land on speed and only run well.
6 Watadeel (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over 1400m at Oakbank when off speed and kept chasing but did seemingly have his chance when fourth to Fine Future. Like him back up in trip, he’s in the mix.
