Back Me: 6 I Am A Star (Best Odds: $6.00) might not be in a big stable or have the big name jockey aboard, but she looks the one after scratchings. Looked sharp in a recent trial win at Cranbourne and will only carry 53kg.
Big Danger: 7 Merriest (Best Odds: $4.80) is a first starter for Danny O’Brien who looks well educated off the back of some handy efforts at the jump outs at Flemington. Draws well, bred nicely and should prove hard to hold out.
Roughie: 2 Call Me Tess (Best Odds: $12.00) looks the good overs in the race. Forget she went around last time out in the Gold Rush at Bendigo behind If Not Now When, who looks a leading chance in a Stakes race at Adelaide, so the form reads well and she is trained on the track.

Race Two (12:50) : The Grand Hotel Frankston Handicap (78) 1000m:
Back Me: 8 Bella Capri (Best Odds: $6.50) resumed over this trip at Pakenham a couple of weeks back and closed off strongly to run a close up second to Dance With Fontein, beaten just under a length. Draws well on her home track and gets the services of Ollie.
Big Danger: 1 Pilly’s Wish (Best Odds: $6.50) is a talented mare that resumes for Mick Price. She was very consistent throughout the Winter/Spring, which ended with a close up fifth to Exclusive Lass on Geelong Cup Day. Jump outs have been impressive and isn’t badly in at the weights after the claim for Ben Allen.
Roughie: 7 Sea Spray (Best Odds: $17.00) resumes here for John Moloney. This mare hasn’t raced since Boxing Day here over 2000m where she was a disappointing last behind Yulong Baby. She is a very good mare on her day, so watch for market moves.

Race Three (13:25) : Selangor Turf Club Handicap (78) 1800m:
Back Me: 5 Raw Impulse (Best Odds: $1.65) created a big impression at his Australian debut at the Valley, producing a lovely turn of foot from off the speed to win in very impressive fashion. Form has been franked and really, only bad luck will beat him.
Big Danger: 7 Kapset (Best Odds: $11.00) brokethrough for a well deserved win last time out over the Bendigo mile to win narrowly but impressively. It has been a while since he greeted the judge, but now he has won a race, he can go on with it.
Roughie: 6 Slivovitz (Best Odds: $61.00) hasn’t raced since running a game fifth in the Stawell Cup (2000m) behind stablemate Killarney Kid. Not sure he can win here, but he is worth a speck at $51. What I will say is load up on him when he gets to Warrnambool over the jumps because he’ll win there.

Race Four (14:00) : Wellington R.C. Handicap (84) 1440m:
Back Me: 4 The New Boy (Best Odds: $11.00) is a tough galloper for Danny O’Brien who has been given a 30 day freshen up since sitting on speed over 1500m at the Valley and feeling the pinch late when fourth to Raw Impulse. Freshened up, down in trip and is well weighted after the claim.
Big Danger: 8 Armada (Best Odds: $5.50) is a Group l performer who comes here off the back of a fast finishing second under the Pakenham lights to It’s One. Rawiller remains on and being third up now, he should be ready to show his best.
Roughie: 5 Time To Test (Best Odds: $12.00) is a very good sprinter for Tony McEvoy who has had a host of injury troubles but there is no denying his talent. He had two runs this time last year and won both outings. Trialled well leading in, and on ability and potential, he is clearly the best horse in the race, so watch for market moves.

Race Five (14:35) : Hyderabad R.C. Handicap (84) 1440m:
Back Me: 9 Mefnooda (Best Odds: $3.00) had no right to win first up at Mornington given the tempo was very slow and she was off the bit a fair way from home, but she lengthened powerfully to win impressively. On her home track now, Froggy rides and will do no work from the gate.
Big Danger: 6 Telopea (Best Odds: $2.80) ran fourth in that race mentioned above and she tried hard, but her fitness just gave way late to run fourth, beaten two lengths. Third up now, she should be ready to peak and Rawiller takes over.
Roughie: 8 Inishowen (Best Odds: $11.00) was solid in that race mentioned above also given she ran fifth and was near the inside, which clearly wasn’t the place to be. Can only see upside with her and she does get a nice 2.5kg weight swing on She’s Miss Divine.

Race Six (15:15) : JRA Handicap (70) 1440m:
Back Me: 11 Abbey Marie (Best Odds: $10.00) is an interesting Mick Kent runner. This filly debuted here a couple of weeks ago and was superb in winning after sitting midfield in the run, producing a lovely turn of foot to win and beating home a couple of handy types. The trainer doesn’t mind throwing them in the deep end and this filly looks to just have enormous upside.
Big Danger: 4 Deja Blue (Best Odds: $4.60) has run second to Lyuba at her last two starts, and she has had her chance to run Lyiba down, but has just failed to go on with it. She is a real query at 1400m I feel, but with a soft ride and a drag into the race, she can threaten.
Roughie: 1 Lyuba (Best Odds: $5.50) is an absolute beauty for Darren Weir. She is nothing pretty to look at, but gee she has a big heart and will to win. She has won three from three, with the last two being narrow but impressive. Hardest test to date, but with these Darren Weir runners, when they win, they just keep going.

Race Seven (15:55) : Sandown Park (UK) Handicap (78) 1100m:
Back Me: 6 Ability (Best Odds: $9.00) has been given a 22 day freshen up since taking care of a handy lot under the Cranbourne lights, albeit narrowly but it was sharp. Won impressively at the trials last Monday at Cranbourne and only has to overcome the wide draw to be a leading contender here.
Big Danger: 4 Stoker (Best Odds: $4.80) ran over 1200m at Mornington three weeks back and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get the job done and had to settle for second to Prussian Vixen. Really well in at the weights after the claim and draws a soft gate.
Roughie: 7 Just Got Lucky (Best Odds: $11.00) was two from two prior to running in that 1200m race at Mornington where he sat on speed and toughed it out nicely to run a close up fourth. Gets nice weight relief here and Thornton remains on.

Race Eight (16:35) : Sheen Group Bel Esprit Stakes 1100m:
Back Me: 1 Under The Louvre (Best Odds: $4.80) looks the way to go here. This Group l class sprinter resumes for Robert Smerdon off the back of three very sharp trials. He has these clearly covered class wise, and he draws to sit wide with cover and ambush late.
Big Danger: 9 Sheidel (Best Odds: $4.80) was a solid favourite last time out at Sandown and just couldn’t get into the race in a race dominated by those on speed when fourth to Bullpit. Confident she can turn the tables and Ollie takes over.
Roughie: 13 Bullpit (Best Odds: $11.00) was given a beaut steer from Bossy to win that Sandown race, steering well clear off the inside and kicking on strongly when challenged. 1100m is his limit, but if he can get a cheap run on speed, he’ll take some stopping again.

Race Nine (17:10) : BECK Property Group Plate 2000m:
Back Me: 16 Doctor Care (Best Odds: $7.50) ran over 1800m at Sandown last time out and loomed to win the race but his fitness just gave way when running third to in form galloper Zahspeed, beaten just under two lengths. He will be better off with the extra furlong under the belt and only has upside.
Big Danger: 4 De Little Engine (Best Odds: $7.00) resumed over 1600m at Sandown and worked home strongly late when seventh to Nevis, beaten just over four lengths in what was a pleasing effort. He will love the step up to 2000m as well as getting back to Caulfield and the stable is low flying at the moment.
Roughie: 9 Good Value (Best Odds: $9.00) is a Victorian visitor who hasn’t won for a while but is racing well enough. Last start he sat on speed and tired late when sixth to Leebaz in the Easter Cup (2000m) at Caulfield. Better placed here and will be strong late.
