The Parks track at Morphettville will play host a nine race meeting on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (12:17) Thomas Farms (Bm68) 1550m
Hard to get away from 4 En Francais (Bet Now: $1.70). This mare is quite promising for Jake Stephens and comes here off the back of a spank job win at Gawler two weeks ago where she led throughout. Granted the pattern was in her corner, but it wasn’t significant enough to explain the near eight length romp. She’s destined for better things I feel so happy to butter up again.
2 Yuri Royale (Bet Now: $3.40) looks the one on the up for Team Jolly. He resumed over 1400m at Murray Bridge three weeks ago where he was off the speed but chimed in with purpose and finished hard, just missing out on the win when a narrow second to Hasselfree. Fitter and up to 1550m, he’ll take beating.
1 Getouttheway (Bet Now: $17.00) can be an improver at odds. He ran two weeks back at Gawler, a track he loves, and didn’t fire a shot behind Cashin’ Chex, but he was back near last in the run and it was a day where on speed/fence was hot. He’ll do no work and can pinch a trifecta spot.
Race 2. (12:52) Schild Estate (Bm80) 1550m
3 Cashin’ Chex (Bet Now: $2.20) has found a new level since joining Ashton Downing. This gelding is absolutely flying this time in. Got a peach ride from Ben Price at Gawler two weeks ago and the horse repaid the ride with a strong finale to win and win well. No reason why he can’t win again.
1 Jaguary (Bet Now: $3.30) is on the seven day back up for Travis Doudle after a strong win last Saturday over 1950m here, sitting back in the run before peeling wider and in a driving go, finished best to win well. Back in trip I find interesting, but hard to knock the way he’s racing this time in.
5 France’s Boy (Bet Now: $8.50) could sneak a trifecta spot at a price. Three weeks between runs since racing over the mile at Murray Bridge when doing work from a tricky gate and battling away okay in defeat behind Set To Prophet, a handy three year old. Does no work in the run here and has a liking for the track.
Race 3. (13:27) C'grats Flow Meter On 200-Bm78 2250m
3 Smiling Assassin (Bet Now: $4.60) has really turned his form and career around since joining Garret Lynch. He put together a couple of impressive wins earlier in the prep and I thought he was massive last time in the Port Augusta, set an impossible task really and was very good late when second to Grinzinget Star. He’s hard fit, in form and will be strong late.
5 Perfect Illusion (Bet Now: $2.60) has found that winning feeling again…can he now hold it? I thought he was somewhat flattered by the win at Gawler last time given he was near the speed and found the fence for the final part of the race, and it was clear that the inside was gold. Good win, deserved, but flattered, so while he’s hard to beat here, I’d want $6-$7 before diving in.
6 Flow Meter (Bet Now: $26.00) is an absolute marvel and is having start 200. What a warrior he has been and he’s actually racing in good form. He ran behind Perfect Illusion two weeks back at Gawler and was fence in run, but still closed his race off pretty well late in the piece to finish fourth. Doubt he wins, but one for exotics.
Race 4. (14:02) Pfd Foods Mdn Plate 1000m
I like 5 Kusu (Bet Now: $7.50) here for Team Jolly. He resumes, having not raced since his debut back in November on the course proper here when a game third after settling just off the speed, finishing close up. Given a really good break and a jumpout followed by a sharp trial win tells me he’s ready to go.
11 Gallium (Bet Now: $10.00) is a Phillip Stokes trained first starter that commands respect. This Dundeel filly has had three jumpouts this time in to get ready for start one, the latest seeing her win here and beating Kusu, but to my eye, Kusu moved much better. But, this stable and first starters should always be kept on guard.
14 Zebella (Bet Now: $8.00) is hard to beat for Phillip Stokes. She debuted two weeks ago at Gawler where she was near the speed and trucking. Clicked up and gave a good kick but had no answers for the finale of Nishikado, who looks a good prospect for Team Jolly, so I think that form reads well for this.
Race 5. (14:37) Fleurieu Milk Company (Bm82) 1250m
7 Dance To Dubai (Bet Now: $2.15) has a couple of screws loose upstairs but no denying she has a decent engine under the hood. All three runs this time in have come over 1100m at Caulfield, winning fresh before a close up fourth to Selburose. Then raced a few weeks ago and tried hard when second to Little Stevie. She’ll be near the bunny and look the winner. Last bit will be the test.
4 Solar Gale (Bet Now: $5.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. I thought he was very good at Gawler a fortnight back given he led and copped heat on speed. Was entitled to knock up but he kept finding and was only run down late. If he gets the front and gets some sort of control, he’ll take beating.
1 Classy Joe (Bet Now: $19.00) is one I can entertain as a first four threat. He resumed two weeks back at Gawler and was very good from back near last in the run behind Extreme Thrill. I reckon he might want one more, but the return was quite encouraging.
Race 6. (15:17) Darren Fey Birthday Mem.-Bm68 1000m
2 I’m A Legend (Bet Now: $8.50) on top. Ashton Downing trained gelding that was big odds two weeks ago at Gawler but nobody told the horse that, because he led throughout and pretty much won like a $1.10 pop in a dominant display. He should hold the front from the gate and prove hard to get past.
1 Winning Weather (Bet Now: $12.00) is close to D-Day but she does have somewhat of a class edge. Resumed at Gawler where she had the suck run behind the speed and was there to win, but couldn’t finish the race off when fourth to I’m A Legend. Good record at the distance and does perform here, so think she can bounce back.
8 Kishstar (Bet Now: $26.00) is dangerous with a kind map. She ran three weeks back at Murray Bridge and was good late from off the speed behind dominant winner Wotuwant. Unfortunately Ellis Wong can’t take use of the 3kg claim so remains at 54kg, but the mare gets a suck run behind the hot speed and be strong late.
Race 7. (15:57) Spring Carnival At Morp.-Bm64 1250m
4 Eyes Never Lie (Bet Now: $10.00) is a talented three year old for the Macdonald/Gluyas camp that resumed three weeks ago at Murray Bridge and she tried hard from off the speed, but was no match for her stablemate Legless Lady, who is flying this time in. Form around her reads strong and she has plenty of room for improvement.
3 Chicago Storm (Bet Now: $3.40) is putting it together now and no reason why he can’t make it three on the bounce. He overcame the pattern to win two weeks ago at Gawler, sitting wide throughout and he gave them a spanking, albeit didn’t beat much. Heading in the right direction and can win again.
This is a rise in grade/depth for 10 Kova (Bet Now: $34.00) but she does look promising. Not sure she beat much last Wednesday at Murray Bridge but she made a mess of them and was dominant late under Vorster to break the maiden status. Has good upside to come and should be strong late.
Race 8. (16:32) Pike & Joyce (Bm64) 1300m
10 Kong (Bet Now: $2.30) gets his chance for redemption quite quickly after last Saturday when racing here and being luckless in the straight, getting held up at various stages before eventually getting clear air and surging hard late to just miss. If he gets the rub of the green here, I think he wins.
8 Classy Kenny (Bet Now: $6.00) is on the seven day back up for the Hickmott/Riggs stable after racing last Saturday over 1250m here when just a tad keen in the run and I reckon that took something away from his finale behind Oh Mo. That form does read quite well for what is a winnable 64.
6 So You Can (Bet Now: $10.00) hasn’t quite set the world on fire this time in for the Macdonald/Gluyas camp but he doesn’t have a bad record on the Parks track and his best is clearly good enough. They rode him warm at Gawler two weeks back, suiting the pattern, but that’s not the way to ride him and it backfired, finishing down the track. With a patient steer, you’ll see a much better effort.
Race 9. (17:10) Grand Synd.-New Yearlings-Bm60 1400m
9 Pivotal Force (Bet Now: $10.00) gets the nod. He’s found a purple patch for the Francis/Kent camp, winning two back at the midweeks at Strathalbyn before going to Murray Bridge three weeks ago where he was good from the back behind Hasselfree, producing good late splits. Hard to beat if he can settle closer in the run.
6 Crowned Monarch (Bet Now: $6.00) should be suited up to 1400m. David Jolly mare that resumed over 1200m at Gawler two weeks ago where she got back to near last in the run and was never a factor behind Chicago Storm, but it was a race dominated on speed. The rise in trip is a big tick and she has upside to come compared to most, so an improved showing is on the cards.
14 Headphones (Bet Now: $9.00) deserves another look for Jordan Frew. Forgive the run at Murray Bridge last time given she was four wide no cover for the trip and had to tire, which she did. Run prior, she just missed out on a metro win, so she’s certainly capable of measuring up.
