The Belmont Winter Carnival continues this Saturday where it is H G Bolton Sprint Day. The weather is fine, the track is soft (6) and the rail is out eight metres for the entire circuit.

6 The Collector (Bet Now: $3.70) on top. Simon Miller trained son of Merchant Navy that is on debut. He had two trials in the Autumn and didn’t fire a shot. Spelled, they put the Blinkers on in a recent Lark Hill trial and the end result was an absolute spank job win with something in reserve. I think off that, he’ll take a power of beating.

The last bit will test for 1 Revitup (Bet Now: $2.25) but she’s a very genuine 1000m filly who will give an almighty sight. Ran over this track/distance three weeks ago when leading and tried hard, but had no answers late for Aztec Ruler, who won last Saturday and looks one of the better juveniles I’ve seen this season, so the form reads well.

11 Platinum Class (Bet Now: $26.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. Ran last Wednesday at this track/distance where she was just off the speed and battled away pretty well when third. I think a strong 1000m will be up her alley and from the inside gate, she’ll do no work and be strong late.

I think with a better gate, 5 Storm Commander (Bet Now: $3.70) can easily bounce back here. He was good in defeat two back behind Thomas Magnum before racing here last Saturday and in an on pace dominated affair, he failed to fire and be clearly forgiving when down the track behind Capital Flight. If the inside gate is used, he’ll run a beauty.

4 State Of Power (Bet Now: $2.70) has the wet track stats on the board to give this a shake. They rode her positively last Saturday and she looked the winner when she kicked but was nabbed late by Capital Flight. I reckon with a more conservative steer, she’ll attack the line much better.

3 Olga Luisa (Bet Now: 7.00) is 2/2 on heavy ground and with her jump/run style, she’ll give an almighty sight. Ran over this track/dsitance three weeks back where she led at a solid clip and gave a good kick from the front, just feeling the pinch late, but brave when third. Last bit will test, she’ll give a great run for your money.

I want to give 11 Dais (Bet Now: $10.00) another chance. She resumed over 1000m here at the midweeks and was a tad on the plain side after seemingly getting every chance. Form around her from last prep reads very well and she is bred to swim, so a wet track will be ideal and she maps ideally.

8 Bread To Flirt (Bet Now: $7.00) has found winning form…can she hold it? Loved the way she kept finding the line to win over 1300m here last Wednesday, knuckling down strongly late to win in a driving go. She is a mare who likes to get her toe in and should be strong at the end.

5 Halatorian (Bet Now: $4.20) is unknown on wet ground but the return was quite encouraging, which came here two weeks back in a similar race to this over 1000m when back near last in the run and was good late when third to Glasgow Girl. Like him up to 1200m and gets CJP to steer.

Back to 66 grade, I’ll give 1 Reliable Star (Bet Now: $3.60) another chance. She ran last Saturday in a strong 78 and got a mile out of her ground. She did make up some headway but was never really a threat behind Sluice Box. Back to this level with Blinkers first time and the claim, she appeals.

4 Bold Success (Bet Now: $4.40) is getting on in years for Jim Taylor but is racing very well. Ran two weeks ago here where he looked the winner when he edged clear but was nailed late by Reliable Star. Not sure he’ll be as effective if the track gets heavy, but he’s hard fit and in from.

2 Majinika (Bet Now: $12.00) is rising 11 years of age but has found positive form and can certainly hold it. Ran in the Reliable Star race from two weeks back where he tracked up with purpose and loomed to win but couldn’t quite finish it off when a close up third. Can win without surprising.

6 Nero King (Bet Now: $4.40) to make it 3/3 for Jim Taylor. He was a dominant winner over the mile here last Wednesday, rounding them up from last in a six horse field, running clearly the best late splits of the meeting. Testing 1400m should be fine for him and he’s bred to swim. Keen.

4 Frigid (Bet Now: $3.40) is a very progressive filly for Michael Grantham that is 2/2 this time in, the latest win being two weeks ago here when handling the testing track and was too good against the older horses. Tricky gate to overcome but gets Chris Parnham and appears to have good ability.

7 Success Play (Bet Now: $20.00) is one that can be a first four threat. On the seven day back up after racing over the mile here last Saturday when near the speed throughout and battled away well in defeat behind a ripping filly in The Velvet Queen. Back to 1400m from a soft gate, I think he’ll run well.

Back to 1400m I hate for 9 Brave Dream (Bet Now: $3.80), but I can’t ignore her last start, which came over the mile here two weeks ago where she was excellent from near last on the turn when third to No Apology, who ran a beauty last Saturday, so the form reads super and a likely heavy track will be no issue. Hard to beat if she’s within range.

3 Chili Is Hot (Bet Now: $6.00) is bursting to win a race this time in but she keeps finding one or two better. Ran over 1300m here a fortnight back where they rode her with a sit and worked to the line with purpose when second to Secret Plan. The rise to 1400m is ideal and the wet ground is fine.

6 Brother Paddy (Bet Now: $SP.00) might want one more, but he does have a touch of quality when right. Resumed two weeks back here where he was back in the run and never a factor behind Frigid, a talented filly. Not sure I could back him to win, but include in wider exotics.

6 Savanik (Bet Now: $SP.00) is flying and I think she’ll get back into the winners list. Ran over 1300m here last Wednesday and if you were on her, apologies for bringing it back up. She should have won but had zero luck at a vital stage, driving hard late to just miss. Up to 1400m, clear air, she’ll take beating.

4 Multinational (Bet Now: $4.20) should be suited up to 1400m. Last couple of runs have come over 1200m here, the latest run being a fortnight back when near the speed and battled away really well when a narrow second to Cold Shizzle. Good record at the track/distance and has an ideal map.

14 My Fury (Bet Now: $7.00) is back to 1400m after racing three weeks back in the Belmont Oaks where the trip and class found her a bit much when down the track behind a quality filly in Searchin’ Rocs. I do think back in trip is a positive for her. Back in trip so sharp though? Only time will tell.

7 The Spruiker (Bet Now: $5.00) is the best swimmer in this field so with that in mind, he’s on top. He doesn’t bring the Beaufine form but he does bring a strong 1200m lead up run, which was his return, when wide and doing work, sticking on quite well in defeat behind Secret Plan. He’s 2/2 on heavy ground, he will be strong late and has good upside.

5 Hot Zed (Bet Now: $5.50) is a very consistent animal for Lou Luciani that won’t be far away. He resumed in the Beaufine and was very good from off the speed when fourth to Nerodio in a very encouraging return. If he can settle a pair closer in the run, he’ll be quite dangerous.

3 Great Again (Bet Now: $19.00) returns to WA but not for Lindsey Smith. He now finds himself with Jayden Lyall. He’s getting on in years and is he the same he was a few years ago? I’d say no, but with a heavy track on the cards, he comes right into play and in terms of class, he has a bit on these. Huge market watch.

13 Miss Vasari (Bet Now: $7.50) is one of the better bets on the card. Dan Morton trained mare that resumed over 1000m here three weeks ago where she was back near last in the run and spotted those in front a decent start, but gee she was very good late behind Thomas Magnum, clocking some of the better late splits of the meeting. If the inside gate is used to advantage, I think she’ll be a bit too good.

12 Gunmetal Grey (Bet Now: $21.00) is knocking on the door to win but keeps finding one or two better on the day. Ran over 1400m here three weeks back where she was back off the speed and tried hard, but couldn’t quite finish the race off behind an in form Savage One. Back to 1200m, with wet ground, she’ll be around the mark.

3 Zephyr Queen (Bet Now: $91.00) loves to get her toe in and third up from a break, hard fit, this is just about D-Day for her. Ran over 1300m here two weeks back and wa sa bit on the plain side behind Secret Plan. She is a swimmer and if she’s anywhere near her best, she’s good enough to threaten.
