Race 1. (11:43) Sky Racing Hcp (Bm78) 1600m
11 Seven’s (Bet Now:Β $3.50) should be better for the first up run, which came over 1400m at the Gold Coast where he did plenty of work in the run from the wide gate and battled on really well in defeat. Like the rise in trip for him and with good upside, clearly appeals.
4 Cavalry Man (Bet Now:Β $7.00) is bursting to win. He ran over the mile three weeks ago at Eagle Farm and tried hard but just couldn’t quite finish the job behind So You Are. Like him back to the mile and the big tick is back to 78 grade. Hard to beat.
15 La Cometa (Bet Now:Β $31.00) comes back to the mile after racing over 1800m at Eagle Farm where the track was quite testing and she couldn’t pick her feet up late in the piece. Better suited at this level, she’s a definite improver.
Race 2. (12:18) Stradbroke Calcutta Book Now Hcp (C6) 1200m
8 Surprise Honey (Bet Now:Β $8.50) was pretty good in defeat when resuming several weeks ago over 1000m at Eagle Farm, sitting off speed but kept chasing in a pretty good effort behind All Adore. Fitter, can settle near the speed and be strong at the end.
14 Balance The Books (Bet Now:Β $4.80) steps up in trip after racing over 1000m at Eagle Farm when off speed and loomed to win, hailed as the winner, but was nabbed late by Esjay. 1200m is the slight query but she has the engine under the hood.
1 Pre Eminence (Bet Now:Β $35.00) is several weeks between runs since resuming over 1000m at Eagle Farm. He was back near last in the run and did make up ground but was never really a winning threat. Tick over trial was good, he’ll appreciate 1200m and will be strong late.
Race 3. (12:53) Bill Carter Stakes (L) 1350m
I do get the feeling that 5 Katoto (Bet Now:Β $2.30) is the #1 seed for Chris Waller when it comes to the JJ Atkins. She has been freshened up since a win over 1300m at Kembla Grange, getting better as the race went on to score. Tick over trial…they don’t trial much better for a Waller 2YO IMO. She looks here to play and am very keen on her chances.
11 La Barrita (Bet Now:Β $21.00) comes here off the back of an unlucky second on debut at Warwick Farm, driving hard late from off speed but just missed in a driving go. Was down to run at the Gold Coast on Friday but has been scratched for this with eyes towards the JJ Atkins.
8 Shintono (Bet Now:Β $21.00) steps up to 1350m after a debut win over 1200m at Donald when giving them a start and a beating in an impressive effort. The rise in trip looks ideal, good upside to come and looks a juvenile of good promise.
Race 4. (13:28) Darby Mccarthy Oam 3YO 1110m
14 Pyrolysis (Bet Now:Β $12.00) found a very soft maiden at Eagle Farm to get the kill, leading throughout and she gave nothing else a look in to win and win comfortably in solid time. Definitely has the talent to measure up against these.
1 Earn To Burn (Bet Now:Β $12.00) is several weeks between runs since a second in the Mick Dittman when off speed and kept chasing but on the line was held by Akaysha. Tick over trial was strong, kind map and has a touch of class.
10 Angel Ladder (Bet Now:Β $8.50) is several weeks between runs since contesting the Mick Dittman. She led and gave a strong kick but just felt the pinch late behind Akaysha. Good racing style, she’ll take running down.
Race 5. (14:03) Chief De Beers Qlty (L) 1110m
12 About To Explode (Bet Now:Β $12.00) is several weeks between runs since racing over 1200m at Eagle Farm when off speed and loomed large to win but had to settle for a second to Cloudland. Racing well and should take beating in a race like this, especially off a fast speed.
Hard to knock the way 8 Flying Destiny (Bet Now:Β $11.00) is going. He won the Bat Out Of Hell at the Gold Coast, getting the sweet sit off the hot speed before angling clear and he let down with real purpose when required to score. Fast run 1110m should be fine, he clearly commands respect.
11 Scampi (Bet Now:Β $12.00) looked the winner of the Bat Out Of Hell when presented but he was fresh and I think condition just gave out late. He has that run under the belt now, he will be strong late and a win wouldn’t shock at all.
Race 6. (14:38) Magic Millions Fillies & Mares Plate (G3) 1600m
I am convinced that 10 Margot’s Deel (Bet Now:Β $16.00) is Stakes class so keen to see her at the mile. She ran over 1400m in the Silk Stocking two weeks ago where she was a real eye catcher, working home with real purpose when fourth to She’s Got Pizzazz. The rise to 1600m should be ideal and she can really launch late.
2 Pinito (Bet Now:Β $4.00) comes here with fresh legs, her latest run being the Queen Of The Turf when far from disgraced in defeat behind Idle Flyer. Liked her recent tick over trial and she does bring a touch of class on her side here.
15 La Cometa (Bet Now:Β $4.20) comes back to the mile after racing over 1800m at Eagle Farm where the track was quite testing and she couldn’t pick her feet up late in the piece. Like her back to the mile…doubt she wins but could pinch first four at a big price.
Race 7. (15:17) The Roses (G2) 2000m
I really like 3 Soverato (Bet Now:Β $7.00) here. Freshened up since the ATC Oaks where she looked a genuine winning chance 400m out but just didn’t run the Oaks trip out. Much better suited back to 2000m and loved the way she went in a recent tick over trial. Keen.
1 Single Red… (Bet Now:Β $5.00) I think if Grylls had his time over, he would have waited longer to push the button in the Gold Coast Bracelet. IMO he went too early and left the filly a sitting shot for Nightline. I think fitter, up to 2000m and a more patient steer, she can run a much improved race.
4 Grand Omaha (Bet Now:Β $6.00) was unbelievable in The Coast. She was horribly weighted, copped a nasty check on the turn but had the hide to keep chasing and finding the line in defeat. She’ll love getting to 2000m and off last run, is right in the mix.
Race 8. (15:57) Doomben Cup (G1) 2000m
7 She’s A Hustler (Bet Now:Β $6.00) looks to be humming for Beggy. Ran a super race first up in the Queen Of The Turf before going to the Hollindale where she was one of those near the front of the chasing pack behind Pride Of Jenni and battled on really well in defeat. Hard fit, handles all conditions and will love getting to 2000m.
4 Birdman (Bet Now:Β $3.40) will want this track to dry right out because he is dry or bust. He found the dry deck in the Hollindale and worked home strongly from off speed when second to Pride Of Jenni. If there is petrol left in the tank, he’ll take beating.
5 Kovalica (Bet Now:Β $34.00) was the sneaky good run in the Hollindale. Back last, was never a winning threat, but did make up ground and was pretty good to/through the line. He’ll eat up 2000m here…maybe has eyes on The Q22 instead, but here, he could pinch first four.
Race 9. (16:30) Brc Sprint (G3) 1350m
12 Metalart (Bet Now:Β $21.00) at a price. He resumed in the ATC Trophy and it was a barrier trial for him based on the ride. No real intent and no real urging, albeit in restricted room. Doomben 1350m is his sweet spot and yes, there are better horses here, but there is big question marks on some of these, including some hard in the market. He’s the right price to speck IMO
11 Harry’s Yacht (Bet Now:Β $7.50) looks to be hard to beat. He resumed at Gosford in the Takeover Target and kept chasing with purpose in a game effort in defeat behind King Of Roseau. Fitter, up in trip, good upside to come, he only runs well.
15 Lord Of Biscay (Bet Now:Β $5.00) did a good job last time in the Tamworth Cup. The tempo was quite hot and he kept chasing despite being held when third to Formal Display. If he has recovered from that hard run, he’s good enough to threaten.
