Ten races will be run and won at Ascot this Saturday, where the Carnival begins to heat up. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (15:01) Tabtouch - Westspeed Platinum Hcp 1400m
3 Gold Maker (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is bursting to win and I think he gets a great chance here. He ran over this trip three weeks ago where he got back to near last in the run and made up a stack of headway late when second to Too Much Talk. If he’s within range 400m out, I think his finale will be too much.
8 Rainline (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes to town off the back of a placing at York where she seemingly had every chance in transit just behind the speed but couldn’t quite get the job done behind Pretty Devine. Genuine mare, racing well, should be around the mark.
4 Why Me (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Brandon Fiore trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since July 23 at Pinjarra when racing over 2000m and for mine, just didn’t run the trip out behind Be Awesome. Likely spots them a start but should be strong at the end.
Race 2. (15:36) Mca Polytrack Handicap 1100m
3 Just Saint James (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the way I am leaning in an open contest. Rob Gulberti trains this son of Jimmy Choux, who resumes. His last run was March 29 over 1100m here when off speed and made up some heaway without threatening Siberian Siren. He is a horse who does go well on the fresh side and his trial work has been more than encouraging.
4 Under Influence (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an improver for Team Pearce. I want to be forgiving of last start two weeks ago at Kalgoorlie. He just got too far back off speed and it well and truly confirmed he doesn’t go well there. I think back onto a bigger track, he can run a much improved race.
2 Resonator (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) steps up to 1100m after racing over 1000m four weeks back at Belmont where he seemingly had his chance but was far from disgraced in defeat behind Kay Tee Why. Like him up to 1100m and he has a kind map.
Race 3. (16:19) Glenroy Chaff Plate 1400m
8 Moonwalk (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) steps up to 1400m after a first up win at Northam over 1000m where she gave them a start and a beating in an impressive effort. Rises straight to 1400m but she looks a filly on the up with good room for improvement.
4 Holler Nuff (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a well bred filly for Michael Grantham that comes to town after a maiden win over this trip at Bunbury where he gave them a start and a beating, producing decent change up speed to win well. Think he can measure up against these.
7 Old Grande (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a wide first four prospect. He hasn’t set the world on fire in two career runs but has had extensive trial work to get ready for the return so watch the betting and see what it does.
Race 4. (16:55) National Thoroughbred Week 20-24 Nov Hcp 1200m
9 First Beach (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) on top but it looks a bludger of a race. He resumed at Mount Magnet when on speed and he tried hard but just couldn’t quite finish the job. Good upside to come and this doesn’t appear to be an overly deep contest.
7 Pretty Devine (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes to town after a first up win at York. She led throughout and credit to her, she was there to be beaten but she found under pressure to fend them off and win. Good racing style, has upside and has run well in town previously.
8 Sparkle Corner (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Jim Taylor trained gelding that resumes. He hasn’t raced since March 1 at Geraldton when off speed and just whacked in the run to the line behind Gold Keeper. Trial work has been solid enough, watch betting.
Race 5. (17:39) Jayde Kinane Handicap 1600m
10 Odinaka (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) each way for me. Steve Wolfe trained gelding that ran over this trip two weeks ago at Kalgoorlie when off speed and seemingly had his chance but was no match late for impressive winner Don’t Wait For Luck. Knocking on the door, should lob in a beaut spot and be effective late.
1 Exceltrain (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) steps up to the mile after winning at Kalgoorlie over 1400m last start, getting the front and credit to him, he was there to be beaten but he found under pressure to fend them off and score. If he gets some form of front end control, he’s dangerous.
2 Prophet And Power (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came three weeks back at Belmont where he attempted to lead throughout but just felt the pinch late in the piece behind Essentric Nature. Not sure he is good enough to win but can sneak a first four spot.
Race 6. (18:14) Conquer Cystic Fibrosis Handicap 1600m
6 Twilight Tale (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Belmont where she got a fair way out of her ground and while she was never threatening, I liked the way she finished her race off in defeat. If she can settle closer and be within range, she has the finale to be dangerous.
7 Wembanyama (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after a track/distance win last Saturday when getting a 12/10 by Pike and drove hard late to score. Confidence is up, he can win again in what looks a winnable race.
5 I’m Crafty (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to the mile after racing over 1400m last Saturday here. He got too far back and while he was never a winning threat, his finale was solid enough. Likely spots them a start but should be strong at the end.
Race 7. (18:45) Project Building Supplies Handicap 1000m
6 Black Ora (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is four weeks between runs for Adam Durrant since an electric first up win at Belmont where she gave them a start and a beating, producing a brilliant finale from off speed to score. Proven track/distance performer, good upside to come, she’ll do me.
7 Lord Shiva (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Mitch Pateman trained gelding that resumes. He hasn’t raced since June 28 down the straight at Pinjarra, sitting on speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite see it through when a narrow second to Empress Of India. He does race best on the fresh side and his recent trial was sharp.
11 The Calabrese (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is first up for Team Gangemi and is dangerous. He hasn’t raced since June 21 at Pinjarra when racing over 1200m. He got off speed and was never really a factor behind Allentown. Trialled well at Belmont and on a firmer deck, he’s an improver.
Race 8. (19:25) R.s. Crawford Stakes 1200m
1200m is on the short side for 9 Super Smink (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) but she has class and I’ll bank on that getting her home here fresh. She hasn’t raced since the Autumn when down the track in the Futurity behind Mr Brightside at Caulfield. Given the good break and looks to have trialled up really well.
5 Storyville (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks terribly weighted but she does have a bit of quality about her. Team Williams trained mare that had a solid Autumn/Winter but didn’t quite produce what she did this time last year. Her trials have been quite sharp though and despote the weight and sticky gate, she commands respect.
8 Crippalenko (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one to watch from an exotics perspective. He had two runs when last in work and didn’t fire a shot each time he stepped out. His best is good enough to be a knockout hope so I wouldn’t entirely dismiss him.
Race 9. (20:02) Eurythmic Stakes 1400m
Team Williams have openly declared 7 Watch Me Rock (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) as their #1 seed for the Railway so keen to see how he goes here. He resumes after a fab Autumn prep where he produced a sequence of wins and built up a strong record. Eyes on better races but he’s very genuine and maps to get run of the race.
1 Magnificent Andy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has the run on the board and class, as evidenced when he resumed with a bang in the Golden Saddle, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive return. Fitter, 1400m, can be ridden with intent…commands respect.
4 Mojo Rhythm (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Mitch Pateman trained gelding that resumes. He hasn’t raced since the Gold Rush last year when closing late without threatening behind Western Empire. He’ll likely spot them a start but will be strong at the end.
Race 10. (20:42) Jp Equity Handicap 1400m
1 Essentric Nature (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is in a real purple patch for Team Williams and is one of the hardest to beat. Three weeks between runs since an impressive win at Belmont, giving them a start and a beating, producing a strong finale to score. Good test here in a race with depth but think he can continue his winning ways.
5 Papavero Princess (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Summer Dickson trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since Jan 11 over this track/distance when leading and tried hard but couldn’t quite see it through when third to Yarralea. Fresh at 1400m signals intent and has a good racing style.
8 Correct Choice (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of So You Think that resumes for Michael Grantham. His last run came at Northam on June 2 when fourth in the WA Day Cup behind Madame Magic after gettng off speed. Likely will spot them a start but be strong late.
