Nine races have been set down for Ascot on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (16:04) Tabtouch - Westspeed Platinum (Rs0ly) 1000m
1 Another Strike (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks the best horse in the race and I’ll bank on that getting him home. He ran over 1200m here two weeks ago and tried hard from off the speed, just getting outbobbed on the line when second to Rocket Juice. I think back to 1000m is fine, he’ll sit off the good speed and be strong late.
4 Salt Lake Shake (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Simon Miller trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since Aug 24 when struggling on heavy ground at Belmont over 1000m behind the very talented Bravo Centurion. Given a good break and he has trialled up really well for the return. Watch the market.
5 Seeyouatthesession (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Sessions that is first up for Simon Miller. His last run came on Sep 5 at Northam over 1100m when wide no cover on speed and just felt the pinch late in the piece. Trialled up sharply and is a track/distance winner.
Race 2. (16:39) Liberties Insurance Plate 1100m
2 London’s Image (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the class factor and despite 1100m being short of her best, I think class gets her home. She has a busy Summer Carnival, but she ran some ripping races in quality events. I dare say she’ll lead this field up and it’ll take a good one to get past her.
4 Golden Vale (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a handy short course filly for Simon Miller that resumes. She hasn’t raced since Nov 16 in the Placid Ark when game in defeat behind Wind And The Lion. Best suited at around this distance range, keen to see how she goes.
3 Madhi Girl (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) goes well fresh and her best is more than good enough. She too hasn’t been seen since the Placid Ark where she was wide throughout and never really a factor. If she can get a better run in transit, she can take this out.
Race 3. (17:23) Magic Millions Plate 1200m
6 Golden Opera (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks ready to win for Dan Morton. She has been strong in two career outings, finishing runner up each time. Latest was two weeks ago when chasing strongly from off the speed, but couldn’t quite get there. Hard fit, hood race experience and up to 1200m, she takes beating.
4 Mardusa (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Maurice that is on debut. He has trialled up well enough to my eye in readiness for start one and on breeding, 1200m at start one looks ideal so keen to see how he goes.
10 Messina (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an interesting runner. Simon Miller trains this daughter of Tassort, who hadn’t set the world on fire in her first trial before a trial win last week and moved well enough. Watch the market and see what it does.
Race 4. (18:00) Peters Investments (Rs1mw) 1200m
8 Ain’tsobad (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to 1200m from 1400m but she is a mare who is absolutely humming this time in. Her last start over 1400m came at Pinjarra where she led throughout and was quite dominant late in the piece.
5 Boab Boy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Simon Miller trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since June 15 when close up but held over 1300m at Belmont. He ess with Brett Pope but now with Miller and his trial work has been sharp, so keen to see how he goes.
4 Lonsdaleite (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a key chance. Track/distance winner two back when giving them a start and beating before going to Albany where she got too far back but was solid enough late in the piece. She’ll spot them a start but be strong at the end.
Race 5. (18:35) Drummond Golf (Bm66+) 2100m
3 Noteworthy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing like a rise in trip will suit. She ran in the La Trice on New Years Day when back off a very moderate tempo and just couldn’t dash quick enough late in the piece behind Antique Miss. Racing like 2100m will be fine and you’d like to think the tempo will be more genuine this time around.
2 Rocking Society (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is absolutely flying at present and should take beating. He ran two weeks ago over 2200m here, lumping top weight and in a driving go, finished best to score in impressive fashion. Harder here, but hard to knock the way he’s racing and is a key threat.
4 Flash Paddy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a knockout hope. He ran over the mile at Pinjarra last time where he got back to near last in the run and made up solid headway without threatening late in the piece behind Oceanzara. Has won at the trip and likes Ascot, so don’t dismiss him.
Race 6. (19:05) Studco (Bm72+) 1100m
10 Celestial Storm (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) races best, IMO, when on speed and not with cover, not restrained. He ran very well with that set up fresh over 1000m here before a run on New Years Day here when ridden with a sit and it backfired. Let him roll and he’ll take running down.
8 Sonoftheboss (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) come back to 1100m after racing over 1400m at Pinjarra last time out when attempting to lead throughout and giving a solid enough kick but just couldn’t quite see it through behind the in form Papavero Princess. If he gets front end control, he’ll take running down.
2 Ice Pick Nick (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Frosted that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since Aug 10 at Belmont when finishing best from just off the speed to score. He is better suited over a bit further but off a fast speed, he’ll take beating.
Race 7. (19:35) Quayclean (Bm66+) 1400m
6 Rissoles (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing over 1200m here last Saturday where she got badly held up in behind before eventually getting clear and was good late in the piece. 1400m suits and is hard to beat against these.
2 Above The Peg (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs for Simon Miller, having not raced since Nov 30 when racing over 1800m. He was wide no cover throughout and just couldn’t get involved after that early work. Better run in transit, he can take this out.
9 Blue Lagoon (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran two week back at this track/distance where he got a fair way out of his ground but made up good headway in defeat when fourth. If he can be within range, he has the finale to be dangerous against these.
Race 8. (20:05) Celebration Of Life Day Trophy (Bm84+) 1500m
4 Bonjoy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks the winner, all things being equal. She really didn’t have much right to win the Starstruck, getting badly held up in behind, but she found clear air off the slow tempo and savaged the line late to win and win impressively. Hard fit now and despite the mini set back, I think good luck beating her.
5 Bruce Almighty (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is two weeks between runs for Neville Parnham after a dominant all the way win here where he got front end control and gave nothing else a look in to win quite comfortably. Bit more depth to this line up but he looks the leader again and will take running down.
10 Atlantis Beach (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is dangerous if the tempo is genuine. He ran over the mile at Pinjarra just under two weeks back where he got back in a slowly run race and despote never being a winning threat, he closed off strongly. If they go quick in front, he can take this out.
Race 9. (20:40) Belhus Racing Stables 30Th Birthday (Rs1mw) 1800m
9 Antique Queen (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is third up from a spell and at peak fitness, she takes beating against these. She resumed with a strong win at Albany before going here ad the mile when off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort. Like her up to 1800m and is one of the hardest to beat.
5 Rommeo (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is two weeks between runs since racing over the mile here where he got back in a slowly run race and was never really a factor behind Prophet And Power. If the tempo is more genuine here, he is hood enough to win.
1 Savorski (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since Dec 19 at Bunbury where he got back and failed to fire a shot. Tick over trial was good and up to 1800m, his best is good enough to be a threat at odds.
