Eight races have been set down for Cranbourne this Friday night. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (17:15) Core Protective Group Hcp (C1) 1400m
6 Steadfast (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is hard to beat. Cindy Alderson trained filly that is several weeks between runs since a maiden win at Mornington, breaking a long run of outs, sitting on speed before booting clear and was impressive in getting the job done. Her confidence is up, she can go on with it.
2 Whiteley (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs for Busuttin/Young since a maiden win here where the market said he was a good thing and despite a few nervous moments in the run, class kicked in and he was too good. Commands respect here.
4 Agreeandd (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Team Yargi trained mare that resumes. Her form last time in wasn’t too bad and despote just one soft jumpout leading in, I’d say watch the market and see what it doeS because she does have talent.
Race 2. (17:45) Ladbrokes Owners Bonus Mdn Plate 1400m
1 Blacklist (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) can bounce back. He resumed during the Warrnambool Carnival over 1200m where he got back to near last in the run and made up good ground without threatening. Fitter and up to 1400m, more positive ride, he’ll be hard to beat.
5 Justified Heart (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) does seem short enough but this is a race lacking serious depth. He debuted at Pakenham where he got into a decent spot behind the speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through. Had jumped out well prior so he gets another look.
3 Inexessive (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to 1400m after attempting to lead throughout over the mile at Moe. He gave a strong kick from the front but just felt the pinch late in the piece. Lands in front, he’ll run well I’m sure in a race that is thin overall.
Race 3. (18:15) Evergreen Turf Mdn Plate 1200m
8 Ferocious Frankie (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a two year old taking on the older horses but gee this race is looking thin. She debuts for Busuttin/Young off the back of jumpouts where where she has looked pretty good to my eye. If she runs up to that effort, I think she’s too good.
9 Grandstraz (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came over 1200m at Donald when on speed and tried hard but she couldn’t quite see it through. Fitter, good racing style, she should be around the mark.
2 Echuca Moama (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after racing over 1500m at Mornington where she was wide no cover throughout and the hard run just told late in the piece. Back in trip and gets a more economical run, she can threaten.
Race 4. (18:45) Skye Excavations Mdn Plate 1000m
1 Central Bank (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is short enough but he does look to have a bit on these. Did he turn it up at Bendigo last time? Some say yes. I say no. The inside at Bendigo has been hot the past six months and he was wide throughout. Better run in transit, depth not as deep, he’s clearly the one to beat.
9 Final Moment (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a daughter of Hansestic that is on debut for Clayton Douglas. Her jumpout work has been solid enough without jumping up and down but outside the favourite, this race is thin, so she doesn’t need to be anything special to measure up.
5 Lunar Arc (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an interesting runner. Moody/Coleman trained mare that debuted last year when down the track. Been given a good break and I thought her recent jumpout work hasn’t been too bad so watch betting and see what it does.
Race 5. (19:15) Browns Sawdust & Shavings (Bm70) 1000m
8 Charcoals (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Team Freedman trained gelding that resumes and I think he can resume a winner. He is better suited over slightly further but there is good speed engaged and I can see him finishing over the top.
2 Rattle And Bang (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Unencumbered that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since Oct 25 over 955m at The Valley in what was his lone run for the prep, leading and tiring late behind Port Albert. He does save his best for Cranbourne and has a good racing style.
11 Manhattan Thunder (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) shoud be better for the first up run, which came over this trip at Pakenham when off speed and kept chasing with purpose in a good effort in defeat I thought behind Madame Maserati. 1/1 at Cranbourne, not dismissing him.
Race 6. (19:45) Springvale Rsl (Bm64) 1200m
4 Bold Response (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a beauty and will take beating from the front. He attempted to lead throughout at The Valley last time and gave a strong kick from the front but just couldn’t quite see it through when third to Dirty Grin. Looks the leader and the depth here isn’t as deep.
3 Highland Harley (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has done little wrong this prep and has to be respected. He ran just under three weeks ago at The Valley when off speed and was game in defeat behind Dirty Grin. Form reads well and is suited at this level.
8 The Wizard King (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has a good racing style and is racing in solid enough form. He attempted to lead throughout at Kilmore last start and tried hard but just lacked the killer finale when third to Terraflying. He’ll give cheek and is a knockout hope.
Race 7. (20:15) Paint Place Cranbourne (Bm64) 1300m
7 Savvyrocker (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) each way for me here. Moody/Coleman trained filly that resumes, having not raced since Nov 15 at The Valley when fourth to Cachink when doing work out wide and just felt the pinch late in the piece. Jumped out well to my eye and fresh at 1300m signals intent.
13 Hot Pursuit (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing well for Tim Nikolic and commands respect. She ran over 1400m here two weeks ago when attempting to lead throughout and she gave a strong kick from the front but was nabbed late by Mishare. Like her back in trip, hard fit and is in well after the claim.
14 Littlebirdie (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a chance with her best. She hasn’t raced since April 11 when attempting to lead throughout over the mile here snd felt the pinch late. Back in trip I like snd this isn’t a deep race.
Race 8. (20:45) Mitavite Athlete Plus Hcp (64) 1600m
4 Boga Legend (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should be taking care of these. Mitch Freedman trained gelding that ran over the mile at Pakenham a few weeks ago when off speed and kept finding the line in defeat when second to I Only Wish. The depth here isn’t as deep and from the good draw, he’s the one they have to beat, clearly.
8 Savamoon (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the threat if Boga Legend isn’t on his game. He won his maiden at this track/distance a fortnight back, leading throughout and he gave nothing else a look in, winning comfortably and ran okay time. Commands respect if Boga Legend turns it up.
2 Gago (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to the mile after racing over 1500m at Mornington last time where he got a fair way out of his ground and was good late without threatening. Like him up in trip and if within range, he can run top four.
