Night racing continues at the Sunny Coast this Friday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out nine metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (19:08) Stanley River Thoroughbreds Mdn Hcp 1000m
1 Puff N Harry (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks the one to beat in what isn’t a deep maiden. Barry Lockwood trains this son of Harry Angel, who comes here off the back of trial over 1050m at Deagon when running second and seemingly moved well enough to my eye. Maps ideally and that trial was over 1050m, so he’s had a good grounding for this.
2 Dranitzelle (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to be given another look. He was backed with confidence when debuting at this track/distance but he didn’t fire a shot in the straight when down the track. He had trialled up super prior so he has to be given another chance here I say.
7 Rare And Reliable (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Reliable Man that resumes for Liam Birchley. He has only had one start, which came on Jan 13 at Ipswich where he just found them too sharp over 800m. Gets the Blinkers on for the return and maps to settle much closer. One for exotics.
Race 2. (19:38) Stanley River Thoroughbreds Mdn Hcp 1000m
7 Better Acres (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) for me. Tony Gollan trained filly that debuted over 800m at Warwick Farm where she was raw and new to the caper but did make up ground and wasn’t too bad in defeat. Fitter and up in trip, bigger track, she’s going to take beating against these in what looks another thin race.
8 Blue Moves (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has home track advantage and a good racing style. She ran over this track/distance two weeks ago when attempting to lead throughout and she gave a solid kick but just couldn’t quite see it through when third to Belegato. That was the first run for the stable so with upside/improvement, she rates highly.
1 Full Strength (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Power on debut for Belinda Mair. This guy is having start one off the back of two trial wins, the latest coming on Nov 12 when a winner and moved well enough to my eye. I’d watch the market and see what it does.
Race 3. (20:08) Access Insulation Mdn Hcp 1000m
5 Midnight Madness (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) stays at 1000m, which I find interesting, but off the return, I say he’ll take beating. He resumed over this track/distance when back in the run and although he was never a winning threat, he did make up ground and was quite good in defeat. If he can settle closer in the run and be within range, he’ll be hard to hold out.
2 Dibba Dobba (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is knocking on the door to break the maiden tag. She ran over 1110m at Doomben last time and tried her guts out but just couldn’t quite finish the job when second to impressive winner King Potter. Tricky draw, but in well after the claim and back to 1000m suits.
6 Frodash (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) gets the Blinkers first time and can be an improver at odds. He ran over 1000m at Ballina last time where he got too far back in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up some headway. If he can use the inside gate to advantage, he’s dangerous at odds.
Race 4. (20:38) Kilcoy Global Foods Hcp (58) 1400m
9 Pretty Little Lass (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is knocking on the door and will do me here. Paul Jenkins trained mare that ran over 1200m at Ipswich last time out where she got back off the speed and worked home well enough in defeat behind Hard To Dismiss. That was her first run in a few weeks so with good upside and a rise to 1400m, she’ll do me.
7 Scribble (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has home track advantage and is dangerous with her best. She ran over 1350m at Ipswich last time when off the speed and kept chasing in a solid enough effort in defeat. 1400m, I think, is fine, and this doesn’t appear to be a strong race.
2 Jungle Fever (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) jumps straight to 1400m after racing over 1050m on the Gold Coast Poly where he got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up headway and was pretty good in defeat I thought. Gets the claim, I am not dismissing him.
Race 5. (21:08) Magic Millions Country Cup Qualifier (Bm75) 1000m
I think Tony Gollan wins the race. Just a matter of which one. I am thinking 9 Quade (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the pony to bet on. He has won two of his past three, the latest being just under two weeks ago at Toowoomba when giving them a start and a beating in an electric performance. Great record at the Sunny Coast, Jones steers…he’s the one to beat.
10 Great Aspirations (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) saves his best for the Sunny Coast so keen to see how he goes. He resumed on the Poly here three weeks ago when wide no cover on speed and just couldn’t get involved after doing the early work. Should get a much better run in transit and has good upside.
2 Hodgson (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has a good racing style and is very genuine. Narrow but strong on speed win at Beaudesert before going to Toowoomba when getting a decent enough run in transit and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there. He’s one for exotics.
Race 6. (21:38) Access Insulation Fraser Coast (Bm65) 1200m
4 Pivotal Lad (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks the straight bat play for Tony Gollan. He didn’t really fire when resuming at Eagle Farm but bounced back in a big way over this track/distance, giving them a start and a beating to win impressively. He’s found winning form and confidence, he can go on with it.
2 Billy’s Bro (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is knocking on the door. Billy Healey trained gelding that ran in the race mentioned above, finishing second. He had a beaut run in transit and presented to win but couldn’t quite finish the job and was nabbed late. Knocking on the door and commands respect.
9 Whistling Spirit (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after attempting to lead throughout over 1500m at Eagle Farm last time when giving a decent sight in front but just couldn’t quite see it through when run down late by Disney Castle. Fresh legs, back in trip and Blinkers back on…watch the market.
Race 7. (22:08) Jpi Linings (Bm62) 1600m
6 Tiritiri (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will do me each way in the get out. He ran over 1400m at the Gold Coast on Saturday where he got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up ground and was pretty good in defeat. Back up in trip and on the back up, jockey upgrade, he’ll do me each way.
10 Dark Thinker (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Neasham/Archibald trained mare that resumes. She is first up, having not raced since July 11 over 2180m at Ipswich when placing behind Flamingo Beach, beaten just over four lengths. 1600m fresh signals some form of intent and with two trials under the belt, he’s ready to go.
3 Bold Hussar (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a sneaky chance. He did early work to land on speed over the mile at Rockhampton last start and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through behind Magic Game, beaten under two lengths. I think with a more patient steer, he’s dangerous.
