Race 1. (12:20) Midway (bm72) 1200m

I think you just have to be with 2 Oakfield Twilight (Bet Now:Β $19.00 TOP ODDS). Four runs last time in for four duck eggs, but you look at the form, runs behind Madam Legend, Shadow Crush, a Ramornie behind Southern Lad…gee that reads well for a Midway and he went like an absolute jet in a recent Wyong trial.

Danger

4 Dalaalaat (Bet Now:Β $4.00 TOP ODDS) is a son of Written Tycoon resuming for Nathan Doyle and I think he can be dangerous fresh. Did win a Midway last prep before ending the campaign with a down the track effort in the Four Pillars. I thought he trialled up super at Gosford and runs well fresh more often than not.

Long Shot

6 Epic Dan (Bet Now:Β $9.50 TOP ODDS) loves getting his toe in so he gets conditions to suit. Just took forever to wind into his work at Randwick two weeks back but really liked the way he finished off late behind a handy horse in Mayrose. Back up to 1200m I like and gets his preferred conditions.

Race 2. (12:55) Magic Night Stakes 1200m

5 Magic Carpet (Bet Now:Β $14.00 TOP ODDS) should appreciate the rise to 1200m. Not the best of luck two back in the Pierro. He then went to a maiden at Canterbury and worked to the line pretty well when third to Nipotino. She’ll eat up the extra 100m and should be able to sit closer in the run from the draw.

Danger

2 She’s Extreme (Bet Now:Β $2.10 TOP ODDS) looks to be a filly of good promise for Anthony Cummings. Had good specking at a price in the Sweet Embrace and I loved the way she found the line late when second to Fireburn, who will go around next week as a key winning chance, so the form reads well and she’ll be strong late.

Long Shot

6 Miss Faberge (Bet Now:Β $7.50 TOP ODDS) is a working progress but I think she has talent. She comes through the Sweet Embrace where she tried her guts out but the wheels were spinning when properly let down and she couldn’t quite finish it off. Hasn’t done much wrong in two career outings and commands respect here.

Race 3. (13:30) Pago Pago Stakes 1200m

3 Magic (Bet Now:Β $1.95 TOP ODDS) is a horse with good talent. Team Hawkes trained colt that cost an arm and a leg, understandably so given the bloodlines. Debuted in the Silver Slipper and loved the way he charged to the line late, albeit he did no work in the run, when second to Best Of Bordeaux. He’ll sit off the speed and launch late.

Danger

1 Sweet Ride (Bet Now:Β $4.50 TOP ODDS) looks hard to beat. He bolted up in the Black Opal Preview where he was on speed and copping heat so he took a sit before angling into clear air and away he went. He spanked them. Clearly a harder assignment, but has the early speed to overcome the draw and run another bold race.

Long Shot

9 Peace Officer (Bet Now:Β $16.00 TOP ODDS) is in with a shout. Caught the eye on debut in the Pierro Plate before going to the Skyline where he wasn’t too bad from near last behind Promitto. Should be able to get a lovely run from the gate and if the inside is playing fair, he’s in with a knockout chance.

Race 4. (14:05) Ajax Stakes 1500m

Back Me

I’m happy to speck 3 Just Folk (Bet Now:Β $6.00 TOP ODDS), especially with the wet track. He saves his best for when he gets his toe in so he gets conditions to suit, and his two runs back from a break have been strong. Ran a beauty in the CF Orr I thought on a firm deck, something he normally hates compared to wet ground. Gets J Collett on from a soft gate and for mine, only runs well.

Danger

1 Ellsberg (Bet Now:Β $1.95 TOP ODDS) looks hard to beat. Resumed two weeks ago in the Liverpool Cup where he got complete control in front and really, in a 1300m race, it was over 800m out and he made a mess of them in a strong return. Heading towards the Doncaster and I think he’ll take beating over a track/distance he excels at.

Long Shot

2 Brutality (Bet Now:Β $4.80 TOP ODDS) is ticking along nicely towards the Doncaster for Joe Pride. Resumed in the Liverpool Cup and while he was never a threat to Ellsberg, I didn’t mind the way he finished his race off behind the talented four year old. Joe Pride is a great Grand Final trainer, and he’ll have this guy spot on for the big one. He’ll be strong late here.

Race 5. (14:40) Maurice Mccarten Stakes 1100m

It’s hard to get away from 2 Rule Of Law (Bet Now:Β $2.90). He has just been a different horse since being gelded. Unbeaten since having the ultimate gear change, the latest win coming three weeks ago here over this trip when given a peach by Clark and he made a mess of them with the big weight. Handles all conditions, hard fit, in form, good racing style…all points to him.

Danger

10 Gravina (Bet Now:Β $3.60) looks to have come back a different and I dare say better horse since being gelded. He resumed two weeks ago at Randwick and was the only horse you wanted to be on in the run. He was trucking. Just a matter of pushing the button and once Nash did, it was race over. Hard to beat with that run under the belt and down in the weights.

Long Shot

3 Prime Star (Bet Now:Β $19.00) was one of the real disappointments of the Spring after such a promising prep around this time last year. Maybe he is a horse who needs wet ground, which he will get here, and three trials leading in suggest he is here to rock and roll, so watch the market.

Race 6. (15:20) Phar Lap Stakes 1500m

Back Me

11 Fangirl (Bet Now:Β $1.55 PROMO) looks to be ticking along beautifully. Peach Bowman steer got her home fresh in the Light Fingers. She went to the Surround and I’d say it was almost a barrier trial for her. She got a mile out of her ground and was never a factor but strong late. She’ll eat up the further ground here and take a power of beating.

Danger

Keen to see how 12 Roots (Bet Now:Β $5.50) can measure up. She was touted in the Spring as just that level below stablemates Fangirl and Espiona, and was unlucky not to beat Fangirl in the Spring, so she does have class, and there was plenty to like about her first up win at Warwick Farm when asked to chase from a fair way out, class came to the fore and she was too good. She’ll be hard to beat.

Long Shot

1 Extreme Flight (Bet Now:Β $17.00) looks much better suited back to this level. Bit surprised they threw him in the deep end in the Futurity and he was clearly outclassed in a down the track effort behind Sierra Sue. Much better placed against his own age and can easily bounce back.

Race 7. (16:00) Sky High Stakes 2000m

Back Me

4 Sky Lab… (Bet Now:Β $4.20) can he be trusted? Big win and big return from him when resuming here three weeks ago, charging home from near last on the turn to sprout wings out wide to score. He can be hit and miss, but when he’s on, he’s a sharp horse. If you can trust the first up win, he’ll take beating.

Danger

1 Great House (Bet Now:Β $6.00) looks to be ticking along beautifully towards the Sydney Cup. Resumed in the Parramatta Cup and while he was never really a winning threat, I liked the way he finished his race off behind Mightybeel, finishing fourth. Sharp second up record and won’t mind give in the track.

Long Shot

5 Stockman (Bet Now:Β $5.50) is heading towards the Sydney Cup, like most engaged here. Resumed in the Chipping Norton where he got conditions to suit but was just plain late I thought in a somewhat disappointing return. Loves Rosehill and up to a more suitable trip away from WFA, he can run a much improved race.

Race 8. (16:40) Coolmore Classic 1500m

Back Me

15 Espiona… (Bet Now:Β $3.60) is this D-Day for her? Is she a contender, or is she a pretender? I think she’s racing really well. Just nabbed fresh in the Light Fingers by Fangirl. Then went to the Surround where she was ridden like it was a barrier trial, spotting them way too much head start. Down in the weights and hard fit now, she gets her chance for the Group l success.

Danger

6 Expat (Bet Now:Β $6.50) can only run well. She’s a ripper for Mark Newnham that led throughout to win the Millie Fox off a freshen up. She was there to be run down from the front but found plenty under pressure and was strong late in winning. Loves wet ground, rolls on speed, fitter, upside…she’ll look the winner for a fair chunk.

Long Shot

8 Hinged (Bet Now:Β $8.50) comes to this as a last start Group l winner, so that alone gives her respect against these. Peach steer from Avdulla saw her win the Surround. What I liked was the way she dug in late. Startantes was there to beat her but Avdulla lifted her late and she just got the win. She’s right in the mix.

Race 9. (17:20) Vale Alan Brown Am (bm88) 1350m

14 Sindacato (Bet Now:Β $5.00) could start odds on here or start double figures. Market will be fascinating with this former Kiwi, who has been well fancied to win a couple of races with this former Kiwi but was scratched. The trial was a quiet piece of work and the NZ form does read quite well. Market will tell you what the result will be.

Danger

11 Taksu (Bet Now:Β $2.80) has returned in good order for Joe Pride. Resumed at Randwick where he got his favourite wet track conditions and worked to the line pretty well when second to Gravina. Fitter, rise in trip, juice in the track…all points to him running well again. Interesting to see if the market likes him because it liked him fresh.

Long Shot

6 New Arrangement (Bet Now:Β $17.00) can be a big improver here. Had one soft trial leading into his resumption at Rosehill where he paraded like he would need the run and that is how it panned out, but I thought he was far from disgraced in defeat behind Sky Lab. He certainly has the talent to take this out.

Race 10. (17:55) Cerrone (bm78) 1900m

Back Me

14 Benaud (Bet Now:Β $5.50) is on trial for a Derby so I’m keen to see how he goes here. Thought he was a pass mark, just, at Warwick Farm fresh. He then went to Canterbury where the track pattern was against him but liked the way he finished off behind Zoumon, finishing second. Third up now and is hard fit.

Danger

12 Zoumon (Bet Now:Β $3.50) will likely lead and look the winner for a fair chunk of the race. He won the race mentioned above and was helped by the track pattern, but even allowing for that, he was still an impressive winner. Good wet tracker who has a good racing pattern. Likeable for sure.

Long Shot

16 Forever You (Bet Now:Β $6.00) isn’t a long shot, but is the only other horse I could entertain as a winning chance. Progressive type for Annabel Neasham that has been dominant her past two starts, resulting in arrogant wins, the latest being over 2300m at Newcastle. Good test for here, but confident she measures up.
