10/1/2025 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Pakenham

Eight races have been set down for Pakenham this Friday night. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out nine metres for the entire circuit.

1 Boom Boom Ray (Bet Now: $3.40) is a key chance. He resumed with a bang with a maiden win at Bendigo before going to Caulfield Heath when off speed and kept chasing in a good effort in defeat behind Jennyanylots. Hard fit now, small field, he appeals.

3 Snappy Tycoon (Bet Now: $6.00) is a beauty and commands respect against these. He won just over two weeks back at Kerang, leading throughout and he found under pressure to fend them off and win. Good racing style, short course specialist, he can threaten for sure.

7 Rock Melody (Bet Now: $16.00) looks a big price here given she was a winner at Caulfield Heath two back at big odds. Raced there again last time out and was far from disgraced in defeat behind Castellar, who won again on Wednesday, so the form reads well…big price here IMO.

9 No Verdict (Bet Now: $5.50) on top in what looks a two horse race. GaiBott trained colt that is on debut off the back of two jumpouts this time in, both coming at Flemington, with the latest over 1200m, so the grounding is well and truly there and will push forward. Hard to beat I say.

11 Untapped (Bet Now: $2.70) is a handy son of Foxwedge that resumes. Greg Eurell trains this guy, who hasn’t raced since the VRC Sires when down the track and outclassed behind a star in Traffic Warden. He has looked sharp in a couple of jumpout wins at Cranbourne, and stable is in form.

6 Ilovethistown (Bet Now: $3.40) is a watch horse. Clayton Douglas trains this three year old, who hasn’t raced since Sep 18 at Sandown when back in the run and made up decent headway late in the piece behind Too Darn Discreet. Liked his recent Mornington jumpout and should be strong late.

1 Blue Hawaiian (Bet Now: $2.05) is a well bred filly that was kept safe in betting when debuting at Caulfield Heath. She got into a nice spot just off the speed and tried hard but had no answers late for Hustle In Heels. Should land forward and be around the mark against these.

7 Perfect Picture (Bet Now: $3.90) is a daughter of Toronado that debuts for Grahame Begg. This girl has been pretty good in jumpout work and despite the wide gate, I say she has looked well enough to be considered a threat, but I’d watch the market and see what it does.

2 Divine Super (Bet Now: $11.00) is a Jerome Hunter trained filly that is on debut. This girl has been quite sharp in her jumpout, winning her past two at Mornington and Balnarring respectively, the latter over 1000m, so she’s had a good grounding and despite the tricky gate, commands respect.

3 Heuristic (Bet Now: $11.00) is the each way play here for mine. First run for Peter Snowden came at Cranbourne when off speed and held up times but kept finding the line in a pretty good return. Blinkers are back on and with a positive ride, will take beating.

11 Gracie’s Rain (Bet Now: $3.10) is a mare heading in the right direction for Mick Huglin and comes here off the back of a sharp win at Mornington. She led throughout and credit to her, she was there to be beaten but she was strong to the line. Confident she can measure up.

8 Superset (Bet Now: $12.00) is racing in pretty good form at present and maps ideally. He ran over this track at Cranbourne last time and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through when second. Kind map in his corner, racing well…knockout chance against these.

11 Cinch (Bet Now: $2.25) is the winner with a more positive ride. I thought Teo rode a very negative race on her at Cranbourne last time, getting dragged back behind camels and was never a winning threat. Half decent ride and I think she’ll be too good for this lot.

7 Sacrify (Bet Now: $5.50) should appreciate a rise to the mile after racing over 1400m at Cranbourne last start. He got too far back in the run and although he made up headway, he was never really a factor. Can settle closer and has home track advantage.

2 Gypsy Cove (Bet Now: $13.00) is a Cindy Anderson trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since July 11 over 2200m at Bendigo when off speed and was solid enough in defeat. First up at the mile signals some level of intent so I say watch the market.

10 Maycomb (Bet Now: $1.55) looks the winner if she’s ready to go. Chris Waller trained filly that hasn’t raced since her debut back in August at Cranbourne when a closing second to Kirribilli. Two jumpouts to get ready for the return and fresh at 1400m, to me, signals some form of intent. Keen on her prospects.

7 Divine Justice (Bet Now: $9.50) should appreciate a rise to 1400m after debuting over 1200m at Yarra Valley where she got back to near last in the run and while she was never a winning threat, I did like the way she closed her race off in defeat. Has a gate to settle much closer in the run and still be effective at the end.

2 Sacred Rocks (Bet Now: $11.00) is a daughter of Sacred Falls on debut for Ciaron Maher. She has had extensive jumpout work dating back to July 2023 in readiness for start one. She has had two jumpouts this prep and each piece of work has been solid so I say watch the market and see what it does.

3 Mislead (Bet Now: $8.00) does tend to save her best for Pakenham and with class on her side, I am leaning her way. She resumed here on Pakenham Cup Day in a much stronger race than this and just couldn’t get involved when down the track behind Title Fighter. Back to 64 grade, fitter and up in trip, she takes beating.

6 Mohnar (Bet Now: $12.00) comes here off the back of a maiden win at Seymour where the betting said the others may as well have just stayed home because she was backed as if unbeatable and despite the narrow margin, she got the job done. Overall, this isn’t a deep 64, and she maps ideally. Leading chance.

1 French Flirt (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1400m for Robbie Laing after resuming over 1200m at Mornington where she got back in the run and while she was never a winning threat, she did make up ground and was a pass mark. Previous winner at Pakenham, she’s a knockout hope.

8 Smokin Giant (Bet Now: $8.00) each way for me in the get out. Team Payne trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since Sep 17 at Wodonga when racing over 2050m and couldn’t get involved behind Dancing Duck. He has looked solid enough in trial/jumpout work for the return and resuming at 1600m says he’s here to run well.

2 Settat (Bet Now: $2.10) is knocking on the door for Busuttin/Young. He ran second at Cranbourne last time out, chasing strongly from off the speed but couldn’t quite get there when second to Mixxit. Racing well, in nicely after the claim and can press forward.

9 Bing’s Dream (Bet Now: $11.00) is a knockout hope. Forget the last start at Stony Creek where he had zero luck in behind the speed and pretty much went around like it was a barrier trial. There was strong market support there so you have to respect and overall, this isn’t a deep 58.

NEXT BEST: Race Five Number 11 Cinch

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 8 Smokin Giant
