Racing Queensland stewards have disqualified jockey Jason Warrington for three years after he was found with cannabis in his system.
The drug discovery occurred on the same day Warrington was found guilty of causing a fall that led to a horse’s death.
In separate inquiries, Warrington was suspended for three months after being found guilty of reckless riding in that he permitted his mount Dwan to shift out when not clear of Carlson’s Gold resulting in that runner falling and dislodging his rider, Tegan Harrison.
Carlson’s Gold was later put down.
In the second hearing into Warrington’s actions at the Gold Coast on January 21, the jockey pleaded guilty after returning a positive test to cannabis on the day.
Stewards found Warrington’s lack of regard for his fellow riders had resulted in a number of jockeys being placed in actual and potential danger.
