The Prix du Moulin at Longchamp remains the likely next objective for Dubawi Gold following his victory in Saturday’s Celebration Mile at Goodwood.

The three-year-old filled the runner-up spot in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket and in the Irish equivalent, and although a little disappointing at his next couple of starts, he oozed class when successful at the weekend.

A bid for a first Group One victory and a trip to France is now on the cards although Tim Jones, racing manager to owner Andrew Tinkler, admits he would have preferred a little longer between races.

“The Moulin is soon enough. There is only two weeks between races and there was only two weeks from the Hungerford to the Celebration,” he said.

“I can perfectly understand why people assume we might go for the Moulin.

“Personally I would prefer it if there were three weeks between races, but he has proven how versatile and tough he is.

“In all honesty he didn’t have much of a race the other day. He quickened up like a nice piece of work.”

Should he run with credit in France – where he is likely to meet brilliant mare Goldikova – Dubawi Gold could then renew rivalries with unbeaten colt Frankel in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot.

“It depends on how he is, but that (Moulin) seems to be a natural target and then leaves the door open to the QEII,” Jones added.

“There’s a proper gap between those two races. It will be a massive ask again to be pitching ourselves against Frankel, but if he were able to win the Moulin then he would prove himself up to a place in the big one.

“We may as well have another stab at him and maybe it will be third time lucky.”
