Eleven races have been set down for Sha Tin on Sunday, headlined by the return of Ka Ying Rising in the Centenary Sprint Cup (1200m) at Group l level.

2 Sparkling Fellow (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He got off speed and worked home with real purpose in a good effort in defeat. Just needs a half positive steer from Purton and he’s top seed, clearly.

6 Spicy Speedy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is five weeks between runs since a debut second at this track/distance. He landed near the speed and did try hard but just found one better. Had trialled well prior and overall, strikes a winnable race here.

10 Leading Dragon (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of D’Argento that debuts. He’s had extensive trial work to get ready for start one and for the most part has looked pretty good. I’d say watch betting and see what it does. Knockout hope.

4 Gallant Design (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Ole Kirk that debuts for Jamie Richards. He has had extensive trial work to get ready for start one and has got better, his latest trial being quite sharp. Should land in a plum spot and be one of the hardest to beat.

1 Lucky Eight (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was game in defeat three weeks ago at this track/distance when wide no cover for the trip and the hard run just told late in the piece. If he can get a better run in transit, he’s one of the leading contenders.

6 Super Rubick Kid (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on debut here. He showed promise in trials back in Australia before being sent to Hong Kong. He’s had two trials and hasn’t been too bad. Not sure he wins but can run first four.

1 Ka Ying Generation (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should prove hard to beat after racing four weeks ago at this track/distance. He got back off speed and did make up headway without really threatening. Liked a recent tick over trial and if within range, he has the finale to launch late.

6 Noisy Boy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran fourth to Numbers four weeks ago at this track/distance. He got into a decent spot in transit and tried hard but lacked the turn of foot to finish the job. If this is a truly run 2000m, he can finish over the top and be strong late.

2 Winning Wing (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 2000m after racing over 1800m last Wednesday at Happy Valley. He got into a decent spot in transit and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there. Like him up in trip and maps to do no work. Knockout chance.

2 Master Phoenix (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should prove hard to beat after a runner up effort at this track/distance four weeks ago. He got a fair way off speed and worked home hard late, finishing second. Just needs to settle a touch closer and he’ll be hard to hold out.

1 Packing Glory (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 1200m after racing over 1000m five weeks ago here. He was near the front of the pack and was there to win but just couldn’t quite see it through. Think 1200m is fine for him and he looks to have trialled well since.

4 Multisuperstar (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Spieth that debuts for Tony Cruz. He has had extensive trial work to get ready for start one and for the most part has looked okay. Doubt he is sharp enough to win but can run first four at a price.

7 Super Dragon (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should take a power of beating here after racing four weeks ago at this track/distance. He got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he closed off with real purpose late. J Mac on, maps to settle closer and be effective late. One of the better bets on the card me thinks.

5 Turn Champions (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran second in the same race mentioned above from four weeks ago, won by Salon S. He got into a decent spot in transit and tried hard but just found one better. Needs luck from the gate but is capable of winning.

1 Eternal Richness (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 1400m after racing over 1200m here on New Years Day. He seemingly got a decent run in transit but just whacked in the run to the line and was never really a threat. Like him up in trip and overall, this isn’t a deep contest.

1 Ka Ying Rising (Bet Now:  $SP.00) there doesn’t really need to be much more said does there? Best sprinter in the world, messed with them in the Hong Kong Sprint, trial since was super…he wins and wins well once again.

2 Helios Express (Bet Now:  $SP.00) id a big improver from the Hong Kong Sprint. He just got too far back but was okay late. Maps to stalk the speed and I’d say is a lock to finish top three. Nearly as safe of a bet as KYR to win.

5 Tomodachi Kokoroe (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after racing over 1400m here on New Years Day. I thought he was given every chance but just whacked and for mine, seven furlongs was a bridge too far. Like him back to 1200m and maps to do no work. Must for exotics.

12 Smiling Falcon (Bet Now:  $SP.00) each way for me. He ran three weeks ago at this track/distance where he got back to near last in the run and was good late without threatening. If he can settle closer and be within range, he has the finale to launch over the top.

4 Positive Smile (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was an impressive winner three weeks ago at this track/distance, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive display. He’s found winning form, positive form, he appeals.

14 Sterling Wongchoy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance where he attempted to lead throughout and gave a strong sight but tired late. Not sure he is good enough to win here but gets weight relief, good racing style, he can run first four.

1 Romantic Warrior (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one of the all time greats of Hong Kong and even coming back go to the mile, away from his beloved 2000m, he’s clearly top seed. Hong Kong Cup win was outstanding, making a mess of them and was arrogant in doing so. Back to the mile is no issue, J Mac sticks…good luck beating him.

2 Voyage Bubble (Bet Now:  $SP.00) got an all time ride by Purton to win the Hong Kong Mile, driving hard late nearer the inside to finish best and win. Does he beat the champ? I say no, but if he’s off his game, this guy will well and truly there to be pick up the pieces.

3 Lucky Sweynesse (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to the mile after racing in the Hong Kong Sprint. He got off speed and while he was never beating KYR, he kept chasing and was quite good in defeat. Highly doubt he wins but is a must for exotics.

4 Patch Of Stars (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can bounce back here. He is five weeks between runs since racing over this track/distance. He got into a decent spot in transit just off speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there when fourth. Tick over trial was strong and good lead that Purton sticks.

10 Swift Ascend (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He got into a decent spot in transit just off speed and tried hard but found one better in Victory Sky, tricky gate but a threat if he can overcome it.

1 Invincible Shield (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after racing over 1400m two weeks back here. I thought he’d run really well up in trip but he got back off speed and just whacked in the run to the line. Maybe back to 1200m helps his cause and his best is good enough to be dangerous.

4 Happy Index (Bet Now:  $SP.00) seems the straight bat play after his return at this track/distance on New Years Day. He got off speed and didn’t get the clearest of paths in the straight but I really liked the way he closed off in defeat. Better for the run, he takes beating.

2 Heaving (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a big improver here. He ran New Years Day at this track/distance where he got back to near last in the run from the wide gate and while he was never a winning threat, he kept chasing and was quite good. Maps to settle much closer and be effective late.

9 Mount Everest (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since a track/distance win, giving them a start and a beating in a very impressive effort. Harder here but he will be strong late and overall, this is a winnable race if he repeats last start.

12 Ghorgan (Bet Now:  $SP.00) each way in the last. He ran New Years Day over 1400m here when off speed and beaten for early toe but I really liked the way he finished his race off in defeat. Like the rise in trip for him, he’ll be strong late and is down in the weights. Likeable.

2 Dazzling Fit (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is five weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance where he got quite keen in the run and that early burning of energy took away from his finale behind Invincible Ibis. Tick over trial was pretty good and his best is good enough to win.

13 Panacea (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was 1800m back to this trip three weeks back. He had his chance but overall wasn’t too bad in defeat in a first sigh of life for the prep. I doubt he wins but he could pinch first four at odds.
