The Perth Magic Millions Yearling Sale burst into life on Thursday, highlighted early by the sale of Lot 25 – a Zoustar half-sister to Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes aspirant Chayan – who realised $525,000.
Presented by Ridgeport Holdings, the striking bay filly boasted an elite pedigree and attracted strong interest before being secured by respected Victorian bloodstock agent Sheamus Mills.
She is the fifth foal from the Group III-winning Snitzel mare Lubiton, herself a granddaughter of Group I STC Coolmore Classic heroine Camino Rose.
Lubiton has proven a highly productive broodmare, with her first three foals all winners. Her fourth progeny, the I Am Invincible filly Chayan, recently flashed home for second on debut in the Group II MRC Blue Diamond Prelude, captured by Streisand.
Prepared by Rob and Annabel Archibald, Chayan has accepted for the Blue Diamond Stakes, with Lachlan Neindorf retaining the ride after the filly drew barrier 15.
The lucrative result for the Zoustar filly – foaled and raised at Yarraman Park – represents a significant win for breeder Santo Guagliardo of Ridgeport Holdings, who secured Lubiton for $400,000 at the 2024 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.
Lubiton was carrying the Zoustar filly at the time of purchase, and her sale price at the Swan Valley complex has more than justified the initial outlay.
Although Lubiton missed to Brave Smash last season and did not produce a foal, she is now safely in foal to I Am Invincible, the sire of Blue Diamond hopeful Chayan.
