Yulong has strengthened its ownership position in talented filly Within The Law, securing an additional 5 per cent share in the Group 1-placed three-year-old via this week’s Magic Millions Digital Sale.
Highway Farm, a Yulong-associated entity, purchased the share for $70,000 on Wednesday — just a fortnight after paying $165,000 for an 11.5 per cent stake in the Bjorn Baker-trained daughter of Lucky Vega.
A 2.5 per cent share in the Darby Racing-owned filly, runner-up in the Group 1 Flight Stakes in October, was also offered but failed to reach its $40,000 reserve.
The auction also featured a 5 per cent share in Darby Racing and Baker-trained sprinter Overpass, who contests Saturday’s Group 3 Gold Rush in Perth. That share sold for $40,000 to Blue Arrow Equine.
Western Australian stakes performer Ghobella, an eight-year-old daughter of champion sire Blackfriars, was secured by Boomer Bloodstock’s Craig Rounsefell for $70,000. The six-time winner is in foal to Maschino.
Tony Fung Investments also moved percentage interests in two Snitzel colts — Decorum, a brother to Group 1-winning Switzerland, and Canonbury Stakes winner Decorum — selling for $30,000 and $25,000 respectively.
