The Everest winner Bella Nipotina has first foal

Champion sprinter Bella Nipotina has produced her first foal, delivering a colt by leading stallion Zoustar at Longwood Thoroughbred Farm in Victoria.

Longwood announced the arrival on Saturday morning, confirming both the The Everest winner and her newborn colt were doing well.

“We are thrilled to announce that at 7:40am this morning Bella Nipotina foaled a lovely Zoustar colt.”

The birth marks the beginning of the next chapter for Bella Nipotina following her retirement from racing in 2025.

Michael Christian selected Zoustar for the daughter of Pride Of Dubai’s maiden mating, believing the leading stallion was an ideal match on both pedigree and physique.

Zoustar stood at Widden Stud for a service fee of $275,000 during that breeding season.

Longwood Thoroughbred Farm secured full ownership of Bella Nipotina when she topped the 2025 Inglis Chairman’s Sale at $4.2 million, setting an individual sale record in the process.

Christian, his wife Siobhan and brother Brad already owned 50 per cent of the mare before the auction, with the purchase allowing them to buy out their fellow owners.

Christian originally bred Bella Nipotina through Saconi Thoroughbreds and retained an ownership interest after she was sold for $80,000 as a yearling.

Bella Nipotina retired as one of the most successful race mares in Australian history, winning 11 of her 57 starts and accumulating $22.7 million in prizemoney.

At the time of her retirement, only Winx had earned more prizemoney among Australasian racehorses.

Bella Nipotina won four races at Group 1 level, highlighted by her memorable victory in the 2024 Everest at Randwick, where she became the first mare to win the $20 million sprint.
