Black type racing returns to Wyong, and it’s trainer Bjorn Baker with the race favourite Paradoxium who’s looking to back-to-back glory in the Magic Millions Wyong 2YO Classic.
Priced at $2.60 with nation-wide wagering agenencies, can Paradoxium not only win the Wyong 2YO Millions, but repeat what Bjorn did with O’ Ole and claim the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
And with O’ Ole being the $4 third pick for the Magic Millions 3YO & 4YO Stakes on Wednesday, she will be ridden by Jason Collett, with Spywire the $2.25 favourite and King of Roseau $3.30.
Fresh from a Canterbury trial win, Paradoxium finished a credible 1½ length fourth in the Breeders’ Plate of 1000m at Randwick at his only start, and will again be the ride of Jason Collett.
Jumping from Barrier 4 of 8 runners and carrying the colt’s weight of 56.5kg, he is a $400,000 first foal of the stakes placed winning mare Padero, being sired by the highly popular Extreme Choice.
Next is the Max Lees Classic winner Seeiaye at $3.90, who clocked 50.67sec for an all-the-way win over 900m at Newcastle, and will again be ridden by Josh Parr for Peter Snowden from Gate 6.
A $65,000 bargain buy for Capri Racing and Peter Snowden from Musk Creek Farm at the Gold Coast Magic Millions, he’s by Russian Revolution, from a I Am Invincible full sister to Super One.
Also aided by two recent barrier trials, Bjorn Baker also has the Gimcrack Stakes third Masvingo at $4.80 with Kerrin McEvoy drawing the rails, and in the navy and gold silks of Ridgmont.
Sired by the highly successful Zoustar, she was a $580,000 Gold Coast graduate from Silverdale Farm, the second foal of stakes placed winning Rotator, a half-sister to Gr2 winner Positive Peace.
In fact, it’s the Max Lees Classic second placed Mystical who could be the race-pick at $5, having been badly hampered on the home turn, she continued to take ground-off the winner to the line.
Carrying the fillies weight of 54.5kg she races in the navy blue and gold sash of James Herron Bloodstock Fillies, and was a $425,000 Gold Coast Yearling by champion Exceed and Excel.
