Call Me Gorgeous turned heads at Newcastle today when scoring an eye-catching and decisive victory.
It was a case of ‘welcome home’ for the five-year-old gelding who was having his first run in Australia since winning a Three-Year-Old Maiden on April 25, 2024. That win came in his second career start … and, after only two runs, the son of Deep Field changed countries, travelling to Hong Kong, where he raced eight times over the next fourteen months with two fourth place finishes being his best results during that time.
Call Me Gorgeous was trained by David Pfieffer when he was last in Australia and he re-entered the Pfieffer yard on his return, with the trainer given Call Me Gorgeous two relatively easy trials to allow him time to ease back into local action.

Nash Rawiller rode Call Me Gorgeous in both of those trials, but it was Tyler Schiller who took over the reins for his Newcastle assignment, and Schiller showed tons of confidence in his mount, happy to go back to last early, before making up ground quickly out wide in the sweep to the home turn.
While he did corner all of six wide, Schiller had placed Call Me Gorgeous into clear air on straightening with an uninterrupted run beckoning him all the way to the line, and Call Me Gorgeous, with his run gathering momentum, needed no second asking with his superior acceleration carrying him right past every one of his eight opponents with ease as he powered home in impressive fashion to win like a $2.70 favourite should win.
After coming from last at the point of the home turn, Call Me Gorgeous won by a margin of a touch under three lengths.
Call Me Gorgeous had shown positive potential before heading for Hong Kong.
His return outing here once again franked that potential suggesting that Call Me Gorgeous could well attract attention again when he steps out for his next start.
