Vungers winning the $100,000 Wodonga Cup
Short priced favourite Vungers has taken out the $100,000 Wodonga Cup on Friday.
The Brendon Hearps trained Vungers was sent out as the heavily backed $2.20 favourite with Sportsbet in the Wodonga Cup and he did not let punters down winning easily on the line from Coming Around and Quiet Lucky.
“He’s no superstar as I keep saying, but he’s no slouch either,” Hearps said of the seven-year-old.
“Earlier on he looked like being really good until he done (sic) a tendon and he’s just plodded along since.” Hearps said.
Vungers will now be set for an 1800m event in a fortnights time at Flemington.
