After the unveiling of the barrier draw, Anthony Van Dyck, Sir Dragonet and Tiger Moth are $8 equal favourites at TAB to win Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup at Flemington.
Anthony Van Dyck was runner-up to Verry Elleegant in the Caulfield Cup on October 17 and firmed from $9 before the barrier draw to $8 with the Aidan O’Brien-trained entire coming out of gate three.
Last Saturday’s Cox Plate winner Sir Dragonet did not budge from the $8 quote before the barrier draw and will exit from gate 14.
Tiger Moth will be contesting the Melbourne Cup at his fifth start and after barrier 23 was displayed, the stablemate of Anthony Van Dyck drifted from $7 outright favourite to $8.
Surprise Baby – fifth in last year’s Melbourne Cup – is a $9 chance ahead of Prince Of Arran ($10), Verry Elleegant and Russian Camelot (both $13).
TAB’s price history on all runners for the 2020 Melbourne Cup is attached from when the market opened minutes after Vow And Declare won the race that stops a nation in 2019.
