On May 28, I reported that I’d seen a very, very powerful debut run.
It came from a horse called NOSTRO RE (Not A Single Doubt-Card Queen) who is trained by Jason Deamer at Newcastle.
I watch an enormous amount of racing, and while yes the win was achieved only in the NSW bush, there was just something very honest, raw, and dominant about the run.
He crossed from the outside and led on the paint by himself, then shook them off like a veteran speedster, and raced clear and was eased down late to win by nearly 6 lengths.
So, so many people were intrigued by the story they went out and watched the replay.
He was spectacular and everyone agreed. I can tell you, I know people in Canada who looked up the win.
Well, the rubber-hits-the-road today!
Young upstart Nostro Re not only starts again, but he bypasses his eligible Class 1, instead going straight to the very much harder Class 2.
And he’s overlooked bush level Class 2 to be engaged at Gosford in a Class 2 at provincial level.
This will test him. This will really make him dig in as the rise in grade is enormous.
Again he’s drawn deep but I’m so keen to see if what I saw in the bush translates to provincial level success.
I think it will.
The race is on at 3:15pm and is over 1000m at Gosford.
