A new star juvenile emerged on the scene at the Gold Coast when SWIFT WINESS (Star Witness-Taylor’s Command) absolutely bolted in.
Glen Boss has yet again found himself a top ride in the upcoming big races when this Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott baby just went bang over the final 200m of the 1100m affair.
They ran 1.02:79 – a smart gallop leading into the upcoming $2million Magic Millions Classic next week.
GLORIOUS RUBY (Your Song-Breezing Home) who at one stage was $201 and was on debut in this Black Type race, plugged on gamely for 2nd with the favourite the previously unbeaten MISS HIPSTAR (Star Turn-Single Style) a useful 3rd.
The race nearly didn’t come about after fractious babies started jacking up behind the gates. The race after multiple incidents, was forced back 35mins and even then, when they turned for home, horses fanned and bumped and checked one another.
But none of that effected the winning filly who was beaten a fair space on debut at Wyong.
And on that, she has either improved a furlong, or the winner that day She’s All Class is a superstar. Swift Witness finished a struggling 5 lengths off the winner so her win franks the form.
Swift Witness sat just in behind the speed and when Boss let her down she just flew by them.
“Very impressive and such a strong turn of foot. There is a lot to like about her,” said Bossy.
She now forces her way into what is shaping as a very good Magic Millions Classic next week.
Glorious Ruby has previously run last of 6 in a trial but the connections knew she could run as there was money once she hit $201.
