Storm Boy and Lady Of Camelot are a couple of Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott's star team that will be attacking the Melbourne Spring Carnival.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable is looking to bring two of last season’s leading two-year-olds to Melbourne in search of spring riches.

Golden Slipper winner Lady Of Camelot is expected to commence her tilt at The Everest in the Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley next month while Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Storm Boy will start off in Sydney before being aimed at the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m).

Both gallopers trialled at Randwick on Monday, with Storm Boy proving successful while Lady Of Camelot was touched out in her heat over 850m.

Waterhouse, who was at Moonee Valley on Tuesday morning for track gallops, said Storm Boy was likely to wear blinkers when he reappears.

Storm Boy is likely to resume in the Group 2 Run To The Rose (1200m) at Rosehill on September 14, head to the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) two weeks later at Rosehill before transferring to Melbourne for the Caulfield Guineas.

“I think he’s more a miler and I think you’ll see him really come to hand over a mile,” Waterhouse said.

“Yesterday was his first trial and he just won it on the post. He was a bit casual in his trial, so we might put a set of blinkers on him.

“When you think about it, half of my best stallions that I’ve produced have worn blinkers.”

Waterhouse said the Caulfield Guineas was the stallion making race, especially if wanting to have an influence on the European breeding market.

“Firstly, there will be the Golden Rose and then he’ll come down,” Waterhouse said.

“It’s a proven stallion path, especially for Europe, and especially if they can run a mile.

“If you want to make a stallion, you have to come to the Caulfield Guineas, that and the Coolmore Stud Stakes (up the straight) and the Golden Rose, they’re the stallion making races, for the sprinter and the middle-distance colts.”

Waterhouse has plans to take Lady Of Camelot to Moonee Valley ahead of the Moir Stakes on September 7 to give her experience at the track.

Lady Of Camelot was just touched out in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield in her only Melbourne appearance last season.

“We’ll get her fit in Sydney first before we bring her down,” Waterhouse said.

“She had her first trial yesterday at Randwick and then we’ll give her another trial and then we’ll bring her down.

“I would love her in The Everest and (owner) Sir Owen (Glenn) would love her there too.”
