Sydney mare Red Tracer ended a frustrating sequence of Group One placings with her victory in the $500,000 Tattersall’s Tiara at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
The five-year-old endured a tough run but she was at the peak of her form to score a clear-cut win in the fillies and mares weight-for-age race.
Trained by Chris Waller, Red Tracer had been placed at racing’s elite level in the Epsom Handicap, Coolmore Classic and Queen of the Turf Stakes before Saturday’s breakthrough.
Her Tiara victory gave Waller the honour of training the most Group One winners in Australia for the 2012-13 racing season with nine victories.
In a finish dominated by interstate horses, Red Tracer defeated fellow Sydney mare Streama with Melbourne-trained Floria taking third.
