Impressive filly Queen Kay can confirm a Sydney autumn carnival campaign if she races well at the Sunshine Coast

Impressive filly Queen Kay can confirm a Sydney autumn carnival campaign if she races well at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.

Queen Kay will head a strong team from the Toby and Trent Edmonds training partnership when she runs in the $125,000 Sunshine Coast Two Year Old Classic (1200m).

The partnership has a very good chance of taking the feature double as it has accepted with top sprinters Tyzone and Crack Me Up in the Listed Sunshine Coast Cup (1400m).

Queen Kay trialled brilliantly before winning her only start in a $125,000 QTIS Two Year Old at the Gold Coast three weeks ago.

Trainers use the race as a lead-up to the Magic Millions Classic but Queen Kay was not eligible for the Millions series.

Toby Edmonds said the stable had a very big opinion of Queen Kay, who was entered for the Sydney autumn two-year-old races.

“She is a lovely Zoustar filly who was bred by her owners (Emmanuel Bloodstock). We don’t know if she is a Golden Slipper horse but she certainly looms as a Champagne Stakes or Sires Produce type,” Edmonds said.

A win at the Sunshine Coast would lift Queen Kay’s prize money to about $145,000 and she will a need further boost to be assured of starts in the big Sydney races.

Edmonds has sent Wisdom Of Water, who ran fourth in the Magic Millions Classic, for a short break but he is also on a Sydney autumn two-year-old feature trail.

The partnership’s other smart two-year-old, The Drinks Cart, has been gelded and sent for a spell.

Edmonds said he was looking forward to Tyzone continuing his campaign at 1400m in the Sunshine Coast Cup.

Tyzone was second in the Group One Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) in the winter.

“When he missed a chance to run on Magic Millions day we were able to set him for the Sunshine Coast,” he said.

“Tyzone has his share of weight but this race looks ideal for him.”

Edmonds has accepted with Crack Me Up in the Sunshine Coast Cup and the Carrington Stakes at Randwick.

Crack Me Up, who will have his third start since a year lay-off with injury, has won two stakes races in Sydney in the Group Two Villiers and Group Three Liverpool Cup.
