Brett Prebble has been confirmed as the new rider for Smart Missile in Saturday’s Group One Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield.
Prebble beat half a dozen other jockeys for the prized mount which became available when regular rider Glen Boss fractured his shoulder in a trackwork incident at Flemington on Friday.
“He’s obviously looking forward to riding such a quality horse,” Prebble’s manager Glenn Darcy said.
Prebble, who has ridden four winners in Hong Kong this season, will fly into Melbourne on Friday night to prepare for the ride.
Smart Missile is the early favourite for the 1400-metre feature despite a horror draw in barrier 17.
It will be Prebble’s first ride on the Anthony Cummings-trained colt.
