Trainer Peter Gelagotis will not face any sanctions over his conduct towards Racing Victoria veterinary staff at the Sandown meeting.
RV stewards opened an inquiry on Saturday after a report from vet Jamie Wearn about the way Gelagotis spoke to him before veterinary staff attempted to take a blood sample from Levendi before the Kevin Heffernan Stakes.
The Gelagotis-trained Levendi, winner of the 2018 Australian Derby, made his comeback to racing in Saturday’s Group Three Kevin Heffernan after a lengthy injury absence.
Gelagotis was unhappy the horse was required to trot up in front of the vets 45 minutes before the race and when staff attempted to take a blood test from the five-year-old which was unable to be completed.
A sample was taken after the race in which Levendi finished last of the eight runners.
The trainer denied he was aggressive towards Dr Wearn and after reviewing the evidence the stewards announced on Monday no further action would be taken.
“Mr Gelagotis has been advised of the stewards’ decision and the matter is now closed,” RV stewards said.
