His name is hidden away in the ownership group of the Peter Snowden trained Divine Secrets … listed eleventh out of fourteen owners in fact … but Nick Kyrgios was in demand for the post-race interview after the Deep Field filly had saluted at Canberra and the colourful character didn’t disappoint.
“This is my first ever horse race I have watched live. It doesn’t get much better than that. I guess it’s all downhill from now,” quipped Kyrgios, speaking to Sky Racing.
“No, it’s been fun … and we’ve been lucky enough to be part of it.”
Divine Secrets was claiming her maiden win in only her fourth career start. She started as the $3.70 race favourite and got home by 0.51 lengths and 0.77 lengths from the second placed Papa Blue and the third placed Red Light Rachel respectively over the 1200m trip.
Divine Secrets had kicked off her career with a three race two-year-old campaign, starting off with an unplaced finish in the AQUIS Gold Pearl 2YO Fillies. She also failed to feature in her next two starts before Snowden ended that preparation and gave her a break from race action for almost exactly twelve months.
After two trials Snowden gave Divine Secrets the green light to resume and the rest, as they say, is history.
“I’ve heard there is going to be a couple of races (for her) in the next couple of months. We might have to check it out,” concluded Kyrgios.
