Boom Queensland galloper Incentivise has arrived at the stables of Peter Moody to start his Spring Carnival build-up.
Incentivise the winner of six of his nine starts in Queensland for trainer Steve Tregea, had a 50 per cent share sold in him to Melbourne-based owners Brae Sokolski and Ozzie Kheir.
The gelding is the $7 favourite for the Caulfield Cup on October 16 and is the $11 top pick for the Melbourne Cup on November 2 in pre-nominations betting.
Entries close for both races close on Tuesday.
The soon to turn five-year-old by Shamus Award, has won his past six starts, the last three by a combined total of 30-½ lengths.
With difficulties flying horses from Brisbane to Melbourne due to COVID restrictions, the decision was made to float Incentivise to Melbourne.
Following a stopover in Sydney, the gelding arrived at the Pakenham stables of Moody in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
“He arrived safe and well, that’s the main thing,” Moody said.
“He got here early this morning. He had a couple of days travelling, but he arrived in good order.”
After being given the nod that he was taking over the training of Incentivise, Moody spent a few days in Brisbane with Tregea before the gelding’s last start in the Group 3 Tatt’s Cup (2400m) at Eagle Farm on June 26.
“That was good to go up there and learn what Steve did with him and I’m sure that will help us down the track,” Moody said.
“No plans have been made when he will start off and I’ll be guided by the horse.”
