Melbourne Cup winning jockey turned media personality Michelle Payne has taken a swipe at an owner after his decision to replace jockey Linda Meech on a leading Victoria Derby contender.
Michelle Payne has called Thought Of That’s owner Brae Sokolski a ‘pig’ after he made the decision to replace Linda Meech with Mark Zahra aboard his horse in Saturday’s Victoria Derby at Flemington.
Brae Sokolski has come under fire after he replaced Meech who had ridden Thought Of That at his last three starts including the horses only two wins.
In Sokolski’s defence of this not being a case of removing a female jockey for a male jockey the managing owner also along with the other owners of Kings Will Dream replaced Jye McNeil with Hugh Bowman on their horse in the Cox Plate despite McNeil winning the G1 Turnbull Stakes on the horse at its prior start.
Michelle Payne since winning the Melbourne Cup has taken a step back from riding and has been focusing her recently released Ride Like A Girl movie whilst training a small team of horses.
