Maher-Eustace stable expands NSW presence

Ciaron Maher Racing has secured a milestone deal with Racing NSW to take over Bong Bong Farm, the state-of-the-art equine property nestled in the NSW Southern Highlands.

The 97.5-hectare farm, previously owned by Waratah Thoroughbreds, is a top-tier facility featuring 40 paddocks, four architecturally designed barns with 61 boxes, 1,250-metre turf and sand training tracks, an equine swimming pool, a hyperbaric chamber, an equine spa, treadmills, and an ocean walker.

“It’s an amazing property, with facilities that are second to none. The passion and attention to detail that Paul and Anna Fudge poured into the place is obvious everywhere you look,” said Ciaron Maher.

“We’ve been searching for the perfect property to replicate our systems that have worked so well in Victoria, and this actually goes above and beyond that.”

The acquisition of Bong Bong Farm marks a significant expansion for Ciaron Maher Racing in New South Wales, demonstrating their commitment to increasing their presence in the region.

The farm will serve as a home for horses who are spelling, in pre-training, and in full training, with an added focus on acting as a nursery for the younger horses within the CMR system.

This move adds capacity for another 80 horses in work and 100 spelling, located less than 90 minutes from Central Sydney.

Ciaron Maher Racing’s CEO, Ben Sellenger, emphasized the strategic importance of this expansion, stating, “New South Wales is key to our strategic growth, and this announcement follows the expansion of our Warwick Farm operation and comes as we’re enjoying our most successful season to date in the Sydney Metro Premiership. Securing this facility ensures we will continue this trajectory, building not only scale but optimising capability.”

Racing NSW CEO Peter V’landys AM lauded the deal, saying, “To procure trainers of the calibre of Ciaron Maher and David Eustace takes this investment to another level. The quality of horses and their expertise will only increase the revenues of the NSW racing industry.”
