Peter Moody’s talented four-year-old gelding, I Wish I Win, has taken the racing world by storm, claiming the title of the world’s best sprinter in the LONGINES World’s Best Racehorse Rankings. The ranking came after the horse’s outstanding victory in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) at Randwick, where he emerged from last to first, securing a remarkable rating of 121.
I Wish I Win’s latest achievement saw him surpass the previous rating of 120 held by the American sprinting sensation, Elite Power, who recently took home the G3 Riyadh Dirt Sprint (1200m) in Dubai. This is a massive accomplishment for the Kiwi import, who has been transformed into a formidable sprinter under Moody’s tutelage.
The Moody-trained galloper is not new to winning major races, having claimed the 1500-metre Golden Eagle ($10m) last campaign. However, this season he has proven his ability to sprint and has climbed to the top of the sprinting category.
The LONGINES World’s Best Racehorse Rankings’ top spot belongs to Equinox, a Japanese galloper with a rating of 129 after breaking the course record in the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic (2410m). In contrast, the G1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) winner Dubai Honour (122 rating) has been rated equal sixth.
Anamoe sits just outside the overall top 10 rankings with a rating of 120. Three other Australian horses share a rating of 119: Giga Kick, Alligator Blood, and Private Eye.
