Nine races will be run and won at Flemington this Saturday for Finals Day. The weather forecast is for showers, the track is soft (7) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

4 Stars Of Dom (Bet Now: $2.05) had genuine excuses I thought three weeks ago at Sandown given she lost a plate behind the barriers and had to stand still for 5+ minutes while that was going on, which I reckon was far from ideal. That said, she ran really well in defeat I thought when second to Mbube. She appeals here.

1 Vivid Storm (Bet Now: $5.50) was big odds when a last start winner at this trip at Caulfield Heath, but despite the SP, the win was impressive I thought as he gave them a start and a beating to win and win well. He commands respect against these.

6 Superwill (Bet Now: $31.00) is a Corstens/Larkin trained colt that resumes after a debut down the straight here in the Autumn behind Gin Twist. Jumped out well for the return and is bred to be fine on wet ground, so watch betting.

I think good luck beating 3 Star Of Macedon (Bet Now: $2.70). He’s still a maiden but won’t be for much longer I feel. He was super here over 1400m two weeks ago, working home strongly nearer the inside (worst ground) when third. He’ll eat up the mile, keen.

1 Fontein Jewel (Bet Now: $4.40) won the race from two weeks ago mentioned above, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive effort. Heading in the right direction this horse, he’s one of the leading contenders.

5 From Yesterday (Bet Now: $14.00) is several weeks between runs since a placing over this trip at Moe where the track was quite testing and despite looming, he couldn’t quite finish the job. Fresh legs, 1600m run under the belt, he’s one for exotics.

7 Enna’s Dream (Bet Now: $16.00) has found winning form and she can go on with it. Impressive winner three weeks ago at Murray Bridge, giving them a start and a beating, getting better as the race went on to score. She swims, she’s in form, she’ll run really well.

4 Duchess Zou (Bet Now: $3.50) commands respect for Ciaron Maher. Been up a little while but she is holding her form really well. Put together a couple of wins before racing here two weeks ago when leading and trying hard but had no answers late for Stylish. Think with a bunny to chase, she’ll be more effective.

2 Lady Jones (Bet Now: $34.00) comes back to 1400m after racing over the mile at Caulfield five weeks ago. She got into a decent spot near the speed and was there to threaten but just whacked late. Back to 1400m with fresh legs, she’s dangerous at a price.

13 Sunsprite (Bet Now: $8.00) is bred to eat up 2500m. She was a well held fourth to Decalogue four weeks ago at Randwick but had genuine excuses given she got hampered and carted off the track around 800m out, which took away all momentum I found. She’s got the engine under the hood and is one of the leading contenders.

14 Kings Reflection (Bet Now: $2.80) should love 2500m. He ran third to Decalogue here last start, working home with real purpose from off speed in a good effort. The rise to 2500m should be ideal, can settle closer, hard to beat.

10 Simply Gold (Bet Now: $7.50) ran second to Decalogue four weeks back at Randwick over 2000m. He got off speed and worked home strongly in the straight I thought when second. Tick over trial was pretty good and he’ll love rising in trip.

4 Lingani (Bet Now: $13.00) is four weeks between runs since a win over 1250m at Morphettville Parks, lapping up the mud and finished best to score. This is clearly a harder assignment but she swims and is a mare in form.

2 De Bergerac (Bet Now: $4.80) steps up to 1200m after an impressive win over 1100m here a fortnight back, giving them a start and a beating, slicing his way through the field to score. 1200m should be fine, handles wet ground, he takes beating.

5 Samangu (Bet Now: $8.50) was a real eye catcher behind De Bergerac two weeks back here when first up. She was never a winning threat, but her late splits were the best of the meeting. Like the rise to 1200m and can settle closer.

There are better horses in this race but none handle the bog quite like 8 Wuddzz (Bet Now: $6.00), as seen two weeks ago at Morphettville when an impressive winner from off speed over 2500m. 2600m on testing ground is no issue for mine, he’ll only run well.

4 Vegas Jack (Bet Now: $6.50) is absolutely flying for Craig Conron and is one of the leading contenders after a track/distance romp two weeks ago, stamping himself as one of the top seeds for this race, the way he handled the track, the trip…he’s hard to beat.

10 Highland Blaze (Bet Now: $8.00) is likely using this as a barrier trial for a feature jumps race, but he is a capable flat campaigner. He made up decent ground behind Vegas Jack two weeks back and wasn’t too bad in defeat. He can run first four at odds.

8 Electric Impulse (Bet Now: $7.00) is several weeks between runs since placing in the Swan Hill Cup, driving hard late from off speed but just missed when third. She swims, she likes Flemington and is a clear leading contender.

6 Seafall (Bet Now: $7.00) is a beauty for Team Hayes that just seems to be getting better the deeper the prep goes. She won at this track/distance two weeks ago, driving hard from just off speed to score. Commands respect.

4 Detonator Jack (Bet Now: $23.00) ran two weeks back at this track/distance where he ran last behind Seafall. It was a race dominated on speed and he was back so he was never a factor. If the tempo is more genuine this time around, he can run a much improved race.

12 Barari (Bet Now: $6.50) is in a real purple patch for Ciaron Maher and no reason why she can’t make it four on the bounce. Latest win came four weeks ago down the straight here, handling the bog and produced good change up speed. Think she’s the straight bat play.

13 Chains Of Love (Bet Now: $3.60) steps up in grade for Messara/Gavranich after a last start Highway win at Randwick, landing near the speed and was trucking before being clicked up and away she went to win and win well. Good test here but confident she can measure up.

6 Blankfield (Bet Now: $23.00) has been given a mini freshen up since May 27 when an impressive winner at Caulfield Heath, giving them a start and a beating to score. Good test here, but 2/2 this prep and that is all you can do. He’s in the mix.

8 Zebra Finch (Bet Now: $13.00) is a leading contender here for mine. He ran at Sandown three weeks ago, settling back near last and made up decent headway without threatening in a definite pass mark. If he can settle closer in the run, he’ll take holding out.

3 Obvious (Bet Now: $7.00) is hard to beat after a track/distance romp two weeks ago, handling the bog best and made an absolute mess of them in an impressive effort. Only has to hold his form and he’ll go close against these.

5 Flying Done (Bet Now: $11.00) had excuses behind Obvious I thought. He was in a mood pre race and I think ran his race before the gates opened. Prior efforts were strong and certainly good enough to threaten against these.

NEXT BEST: Race Eight Number 12 Barari

LONG SHOT: Race Five Number 4 Lingani
