A poor barrier draw when Adelaide bound appear the norm for the Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained Daisies who will start from a wide gate again at Morphettville.
Daisies started from gate 10 in a field of 14 when third in the Group 3 Port Adelaide Guineas (1800m) on April 9 and has gate 17 in a 20-horse field for the Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2000m) on Saturday.
The filly will come into barrier 13 if the four emergencies do not gain a start.
Kent Jnr is hopeful Daisies can be ridden closer to the speed with the rise in trip on Saturday.
“She got back in a farcically run and while the winner was impressive, I think if she was right on the day she still could have won,” Kent Jnr said.
“She’s come back and is bouncing out of her skin so we’re very happy with her.”
Kent Jnr said the stable was looking at the little ‘one percenters’ to get Daisies back into winning form.
He said it was their intention to send Daisies to Adelaide on Wednesday night, a day earlier than when she headed interstate for her last start.
“We did think the first time to Adelaide might have just dulled her a little bit, so we’re going to go across a little bit earlier this time,” Kent Jnr said.
“We’re hoping second time over there she will be a little more used to it.
“She normally carries on in the mounting yard, that’s her normal self, but she was a little bit quiet before the race.
“Mark Zahra gets back on her and she’s certainly capable of winning that race.”
Daisies eased from $7.50 to $8 following Tuesday’s draw that sees last start Group 3 Auraria Stakes (1800m) winner My Whisper as the $5.50 favourite with TAB.
Two fellow Victorian fillies, Bons A Pearler and So You See have met with early support for Saturday’s feature, firming from $19 into $16, after drawing barriers five and 10 respectively.
