Foxy Frida showcased her impressive form by claiming victory in the $500,000 Magic Millions National Classic (1600m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Despite enduring a deep run, Foxy Frida, the warm $2.10 betr favorite, proved too strong for her rivals with a well-timed ride from jockey Billy Egan.
She held off a determined challenge from Kiku ($9.50) to secure victory by half a length, with Thalassophile ($8) finishing third.
Trainer Andrew Noblet expressed his satisfaction with Foxy Frida’s performance, particularly considering the good track conditions.
She had to do it a little hard there, she was deep the whole way, but she’s so tough and so genuine, and she got through the line well.” Noblet said.
Noblet also highlighted Foxy Frida’s ability to handle wet tracks, suggesting it gives her an added advantage.
“She’s had a big month. She’s been to Adelaide twice and up here. She got up here at midnight Tuesday night and hasn’t had a saddle on her since. She’s done a great job.”
Jockey Billy Egan expressed confidence in Foxy Frida’s wide run, as the race unfolded perfectly to suit her strengths.
“It was a sit-and-sprint, and if you’re going to run a race to suit her, it’s a sit-and-sprint.” Egan said.
“She can hit a flat spot, so if they wanted to try and get her beat, they should have gone a bit quicker and dragged her off the bridle.”
Egan praised Foxy Frida’s tractability and turn of foot, emphasizing how she remained comfortable on the bridle throughout the race.
Trainer Andrew Noblet confirmed Foxy Frida’s next target would be the Group 1 Tatts Tiara.
“She would likely head to the G1 Tatts Tiara next. Why not? I suppose we’ve got to.” Noblet said.
With Foxy Frida’s impressive form and her ability to handle different track conditions, she remains a strong contender for the upcoming Group 1 race.
