Classy three-year-old September Born is set to resume after a strong trial win, giving trainer Neville Parnham the confidence boost he was looking for.

Punched out by Brad Parnham, September Born completed his second trial in good order, surging late and recording a 950m heat victory without any worries.

Parnham is keen to get September Born back at the races and performing at his top again after last year’s WA Guineas (1600m) attempt left him deflated.

September Born ran eight to Storyville but returned lame and after a promising build up his Ascot carnival ambitions were cut short and the paddock beckoned.

After winning the Listed Fairetha Stakes (1400m) and finishing a close second to West Star in the Listed Belgravia Stakes (1200m), Parnham’s confidence levels in September Born in the WA Guineas and beyond were high.

“Unfortunately, he pulled up with pretty severe bruising and had an abscess forming,” Parnham said on Tabradio.

“He went into the race pretty much the favourite, I think, and we walked away with our heads down and disappointed.

“But, he’s had a nice break now and has come back in pretty good order.

“He’ll run in that three-year-old set weights and penalties 1200m event.

“It’s not a handicap, so he should be treated ok.

“That will give him a good step into the 1400m of the Raconteur, also at set weights and penalties.

“Then onto the Belmont Guineas, that will be his path this preparation.

“All going well I think setting him aside and heading towards the summer carnival would be well thought out as the plan.”

September Born, a son of boom sire, Playing God, will aim to replicate his sister, Kay Cee, who won the Raconteur Stakes-Belmont Guineas double in 2020.

September Born will resume at Belmont in a 1200m event on May 31.

The Listed Raconteur Stakes is run at Belmont a fortnight later.

The Listed Belmont Guineas (1600m) is set for June 28.
