Cox Plate champion Via Sistina could be set for an international venture to Hong Kong following another Australian spring campaign.
The mare, who boasts nine Group 1 victories and has flourished under the Yulong banner since arriving in Australia, remains a powerhouse on the turf and is being considered for a potential overseas challenge later this year.
Yulong’s chief operating officer Sam Fairgray revealed on RSN’s Racing Pulse that owner Yuesheng Zhang is eager to see Via Sistina compete against the world’s best on the international stage.
“That is definitely a possibility. Mr Zhang would love to be able to take her there and take on the internationals,” Fairgray said.
“That’s definitely high on the cards for her.”
While a definitive program is yet to be finalised, Fairgray said the mare’s path could include another tilt at the Cox Plate and Champions Stakes before heading overseas for Hong Kong’s marquee event.
“It depends on how she is going and how she comes through each race,” he said.
“She’s tough, resilient and she enjoys her racing. There’s a possibility she could go Cox Plate, Champions and then to Hong Kong.”
