Regan Bayliss partnered Fully Lit to victory in the Inglis Millennium

It was a big weekend for the Bayliss family.

At Randwick on Saturday, Regan Bayliss partnered the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Fully Lit to victory in the $2 million Inglis Millennium, with the colt overcoming the disadvantage of a wide barrier draw (number 14) and a pressurised run to fully justify his $2.80 favouritism when accounting for the runner-up Rue Royale by 0.76 lengths.

Fully Lit is unbeaten in two starts and he has been ridden by Regan Bayliss on both occasions.

At Nanango on Saturday, Jamie Bayliss trained his first winner (Turf Flyer) since his return to training in Queensland following a thirteen-year absence from the training ranks in the state. While it was a non-tab meeting, given the context, it was nevertheless a significant victory for Jamie Bayliss in terms of getting his show on the road and getting momentum moving.

At Doomben on Saturday, Jake Bayliss chimed in with a race to race double riding the winners of the last two races on the card when saluting on the long shot Never No More ($21) and Viminele ($3.90).

Then, at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday, it was a double Bayliss act with Jamie Bayliss saddling his second winner in as many days … Kerkorian … with Jake Bayliss in the saddle, Jake thus claiming his third winner of the weekend.

From a $2 million race at Randwick to a non-Tab 0-55 Handicap at Nanango … to two city winners at Doomben … to a provincial winner at the Sunshine Coast, it doesn’t matter where you go, a win is a win, and you’ll take it when you get it … particularly when, as a family, you have five individual race winners to celebrate in just two days.

That doesn’t happen too often.
