The Lindsay Park team of Ben, Will and J D Hayes is banking on race experience proving beneficial for Bacash at Caulfield Heath on Saturday.
With two starts under the belt, Bacash is the most experienced galloper in the Magic Millions VIC 2YO Classic (1100m) on Saturday with only two others among his 10 rivals having fronted the starter previously.
If successful on Saturday, then Bacash will have all but booked himself a ticket to the Gold Coast for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) on January 11.
Bacash made his debut at Caulfield in October, finishing fifth behind stablemate Miss Celine in the Debutant Stakes before running second, to another stablemate, Tycoon Star in the Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) at Flemington during the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
“If he wins or runs well, he’ll be heading in that direction and with that race experience I think it’ll be a big advantage for him,” Hayes said.
“We really like him and he’s really handling his training really well.”
Since that last outing up the straight at Flemington, Bacash has been back to the jump-outs where he sported a pair of winkers in an 800m heat last Friday.
Bacash jumped straight to the front and controlled the trial in easy fashion.
“He’s had a tick over jump-out and the jump-out was excellent,” Hayes said.
“We applied winkers and he’s lovely and sound.
“James McDonald hopped off him last start and said he just needed some headgear because he floated a little bit late and then the stablemate was able to get him.
“We put that headgear on in the trial, and he worked well, and we couldn’t be happy with him.
“He’s drawn a good barrier, Craig (Williams) rides him, and he should run well.”
