The ever smiling face of star Sydney rider Andrew Atkins was back at the track for the mammoth barrier trial morning in Sydney.
Last July, he fell from Hot’N’Hazy who was later put down.
Adkins was taken to hospital where he stayed for several days and then the rehab has taken a very long time.
And was profoundly arduous.
He hasn’t had a race ride since that fall, but seven months later he has taken a big step forward.
Adkins rode in four trials this morning. He partnered: Deep Creek, then Bohemian Rose and also Our Girl Sniti for his former boss, Ronny Quinton, before ending his morning with Marboosha for Team Snowden.
Two days before his life-threatening fall, he had ridden a double for the Snowdens.
He will resume race riding in a few weeks.
