An All Star Mile contender has reaffirmed the farce that is the voting system for a $5m race with the name ‘All Star’ in it running second last in a Class 6 plate at Eagle Farm today, beaten close to ten lengths.
Urban Ruler was voted into the $5m All Star Mile Field with help of the horses 600 owners but his run at Eagle Farm suggests the race may need to change the entry requirements to allow for an ‘All Star’ race with the quality of horses set to line-up being borderline embarrassing.
Ten of the fourteen horses in the All Star Mile get voted into the race with the Victoria Racing Club allocated four wildcard entries, the horse with the second most votes was Urban Ruler giving him a guaranteed spot in the field but racing fans around the country think it’s a bit of a joke with the horse beaten 9.25L in a Class 6 Plate at Eagle Farm over the All Star Mile distance of 1600m.
Fans took to twitter to share their thoughts on the horses entry in the race. Some of our favourites are below.
Look forward to the stewards announcement the last 3 races at Flemington will be moved back 1 race….to allow Urban Ruler to complete the course in the Your Star Mile.

You can not make this up: The grey horse barely in shot with the arrow is Urban Ruler who just ran in Brisbane Race 7. Settled last and stayed there. Next month he’s in the #AllStarMile running for $5 million 😂😂😂 Congrats to RVL organisers 👏👏👏 pic.twitter.com/BsA9gCisWL

Good work from Urban Ruler’s owners securing a $90k participation fee in the All Star Mile, as that thing ain’t winning no prize money any other way
