The Wagga Cup (2000m) this afternoon looks a strong edition of the feature race, with it being a Big Dance Qualifier.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2025 Wagga Cup.
2025 Wagga Cup Runner Preview:
1. Naval College: SCR
2. Matusalem: He had to really knuckle down with purpose late to win the Albury Cup last time but credit to him, he did and was strongest late in scoring. He’s found winning/positive form, he can certainly win again.
3. Molly Bloom: SCR
4. Jimi Hendrix: Jimi Hendrix is third up from a spell and should be at peak fitness. He comes through the Albury Cup where he got a fair way back off the speed but his finale was sound enough in defeat behind Matusalem. Maps to get a sweet run in transit and be effective late.
5. King Frankel: First up since December, drawn wide, strikes a strong field…deserving rank outsider.
6. Gregolimo: They rode him with clear intent in the Albury Cup and it almost paid off. Led, gave a strong kick but just couldn’t quite see it through, run down late. He’ll press on again and run an honest race.
7. Beltoro: Looked cast but he found positive form last time in the Albury Cup, surging hard late to just miss out on the win. His best is good enough to threaten.
8. Bear On The Loose: Bear On The Loose should be better for the first up run, which came at Hawkesbury when on speed throughout and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through. Lands on speed and should prove hard to get past.
9. My Brothers Keeper: Broke a run of outs when winning two back at Caulfield before backing up into the Albury Cup and he closed with purpose late behind Matusalem. He’ll get back off the speed again but be quite strong late.
10. Medatsu: He’s dangerous. He got too far back in the Albury Cup but you had to like the way he finished his race off in defeat. If he can get a drag into the race, he’ll take holding out.
11. Cliff House: He was flying but he had a tough run in the Prelude when wide no cover and from the draw…he goes through to the keeper.
12. Flying Bandit: Flying Bandit has been earmarked for this race for a couple of months and I reckon he’s cherry ripe. He ran over 1800m on Saturday at Randwick where he got back off the speed and couldn’t quite get there but he stayed on in defeat. Truly run 2000m, down in the weights, strong late…keen to butter up.
13. Bianco Vilano: He was good late in the Albury Cup, getting a fair way out of his ground but really liked the way he closed off. If he can get a drag into the race, he can launch over the top and win.
14. Steel Blaze: SCR
15. County Kilkenny: Nice horse but not up to this level.
16. Helluva Soiree: Flying but this is much harder. Can’t entertain her.
17. Star Buyer (First Emergency): Made an absolute mess of them in the Kerang Cup, which followed a Gundagai Cup triumph. This is much harder though.
18. Knights Armour (Second Emergency): Not up to these.
19. Burgundy Girl (Third Emergency): SCR
20. The Right Rein (Fourth Emergency): Will press forward but lacks the class.

2025 Wagga Cup Speed Map
Think there will be good speed engaged here. Bear On The Loose looks the likely leader but will cop pressure I dare say from the likes of Gregolimo, The Right Rein…maybe King Frankel? If he’s fit enough maybe?
