Country Cup racing is seen this Sunday, with the Swan Hill Cup (1600m) attracting a strong field.

2025 Swan Hill Cup Runner Preview:
1. Pounding: SCR
2. Holymanz: Best horse in the race. But just not sure where he is at given he is here and not run in town. He does have class on his side and gets Harry Coffey, who rides this track better than anyone.
3. Antrim Coast: He is dangerous at a price. He was good I thought over 1400m at Sandown first up, getting back and making up good headway. Good upside to come, like him up in trip…dangerous for sure.
4. Dashing: He tends to save his best for the mile. Totally forgiving of his run at Sandown where he produced a second up syndrome after a brilliant first up run. Hard fit, 1600m, he can threaten for sure.
5. Magnaspin: SCR
6. Earlswood: SCR
7. Seonee: She just got way too far out of her ground at Sandown last start but liked the way she closed off, clocking good late splits. If she can settle closer, be within range, she takes beating.
8. The Open: SCR
9. Not Usual Glorious: There was a lot of grit about his win during the Warrnambool Carnival. He led and was there to be run down but he found under pressure to score. He’s a tough campaigner that will give his all.
10. Angry Skies: Too hit and miss for mine to consider him a serious threat.
11. The Fortune Teller: His best is clearly good enough to win but seeing that has been few and far between. He goes through to the keeper.
12. Baby Rider: Very, very interesting runner. Formerly with Bjorn Baker, he is now with Symon Wilde and has trialled well enough to my eye. I’d say watch betting.
13. Prince Of Helena: I think he is the each way play at a price. He resumed over 1400m at Sandown where he got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never a winning threat, I loved the way he closed off. Fitter, 1600m, ideal map to do no work, hard to beat.
14. Unseen Ruler: Back and wide at Sandown and was never really a winning threat. Great record at Swan Hill but not sure he is good enough to win.
15. Maracourt (First Emergency): SCR
16. Ocean Beyond (Second Emergency): Too far back at Sandown but was good late without threatening. If he can use the inside gate and settle handy, he’s good enough to be a threat.
17. Excel And Fly (Third Emergency): Okay on Friday, but in a much easier race than this. Pass.
18. Magnetic Edge (Fourth Emergency): West Of Africa has to be given respect. He resumed at Randwick three weeks ago where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he kept finding the line in a very strong return behind impressive winner Accredited. More positive ride, he takes beating.

Think there is good speed here. Dashing, Not Usual Glorious and Baby Rider look the main speed influences. Seonee has an inside gate and can settle handy but I think will opt for cover. Prince Of Helena should hold a forward spot from the inside gate.
