Today at a rain-soaked Ipswich racecourse, a maiden race will be watched by many.
Probably millions.
The race is on at 3:13pm Qld time and features a horse named SACRED OATH (Sacred Falls – Berg En Dal).
He has been sensationally backed and probably would be a good idea for everyone to back him.
A token bet and just not cash the ticket afterwards.
The horse is part-owned by the late, great Shane Warne and has a lot of talent. He should win. Maybe Exacta him to beat the filly TESAURA (Testa Rossa – Dame Destiny) home.
And, if you want to go a step further, take the running double with the appropriately named CALL ME LEGEND (More Than Ready – Calming Influence) in race 1.
Because that’s what Warnie, as we all know, was.
His light will shine on even post-death and it is a rare moment/opportunity that we, the punters of the world, can actually have a small token remembrance that can become a little treasure of its own.
Sacred Oath probably pays $1.50 to win today at Palmerbet. But $10 on him just to keep the ticket is worth a toast to the great man, S.K Warne.
Oh, and rain-soaked Ippy today, probably not going too far to say, tears from Heaven.
