One of the best races in the world is the Japan Cup (2400m), where the field attracted looks quite deep on paper.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2025 Japan Cup.
2025 Japan Cup Runner Preview:
1. Justin Palace: Ran well in this race last year but he does seem a horse that needs two miles so if the tempo becomes genuine, he will come right into play as a knockout contender.
2. Croix Du Nord Derby winner that went to France for the Arc. Ran well in a lead up but come the Arc he just wasn’t himself and never a factor. If he brings his best, he can take this out..
3. Cosmo Kuranda: Would be an all time shock. Pass.
4. Deep Monster: He is racing well but needs it much easier I say despite being a recent Group ll winner.
5. Sunrise Earth: Sneaky prospect at odds. Good effort last start when working to the line well and has clearly been set for the race. I say he’s dangerous at odds.
6. Ho O Biscuits: He hasn’t done enough to warrant being considered a threat.
7. Danon Beluga: I’ve seen worse $151 chances, He ran ninth last year in this race. Recent efforts have been sound enough…does he win? I dare say no, but he could pinch first four.
8. Calandagan: Best horse in the world according to official ratings. Stunning winner of the Champions Stakes at Ascot and he seems to be getting better with tine and racing. He is the obvious and the straight bat play.
9. Seiun Hades: Bit on the plain side in the Tenno Sho and needs to improve too much.
10. Struve: $101 looks unders. Should be $1001.
11. Admire Terra: Ran third in the Japanese St Leger and is less exposed than most. 2400m should be fine for him and he’ll be strong late. Definite knockout hope.
12. Yoho Lake: Another that looks out of his depth.
13. Brede Weg: Don’t mind the rider booking of Tom Marquand because she does seem a mare that needs encouragement. But, I think she is outclassed.
14. Danon Decile: His manners are crucial because he can get quite worked up pre race, He is a star when right and if he brings his best, he is right in this.
15. Masquerade Ball: Tenno Sho winner who seems to be getting better with racing. This should be a truly run 2400m, so provided the tempo is solid, he is one of the hardest to beat.
16. Shin Emperor: Globetrotter who ran so well in this race last year. Probably hasn’t quite gone on with it since but he has credits in the bank and runs on the board to be respected.
17. Durezza: Ran well in this race last year but looks to be doing it tough this time around.
18. Tastiera: D Lane got a fair clip from the trainer after last start when given a slaughter according to the trainer. Brings Romantic Warrior form and is high class when right, Not dismissing
