Spewing I missed the $13 opening price, but I am convinced he will start much shorter. He looked sharp enough in a Flemington jump out behind impressive Maribyrnong Trial winner Mateenaty. Just needs to overcome the wide gate to be a major player, and I wouldn’t be shocked if he started near the top of the betting.
Randwick Race Seven Number 5 Honeywine ($11):
I thought his run in the Gloaming was very good considering he was stepping up from a Kembla Grange maiden win. He stuck on very gamely and was coming hard late on the line, so the 2000m will be no issue IMO, should get a soft trip, has upside…should be shorter than $11. Perhaps around the $7-$8 mark.
Doomben Race Nine Number 4 Anecdote ($21):
This is a hot race, but it has the look of being a knockout, and this bloke fits the criteria. He just savaged the line last time out at Ipswich to arrive in the shadows of the post. Speed looks very good here which should suit and really, I’ve seen worse $21 shots.
Morphettville Race Four Number 9 Mandana ($13):
Thought this mare would be in single figures at least, so surprised to see her at $13. Ran well at the track/distance two back before backing up seven days later and running well behind Just Call Me Bruce. Back to the mile really suits, down in the weights, drawn well and hard fit.
