RACE TWO
Harpo Marx wasn’t as popular today as he has been in recent starts, however, he was clearly the one punters wanted to be with in the Cliff Clare Handicap (2400 metres).
He was responsible for approximately 33 percent of the total investment and was twice as popular as anything else in the race.
On the day he drifted slightly from $2-$2.40 but still landed good bets.
Percuinary Interest ($15 on Wednesday) was $6-$5.50 and was the big mover throughout the week.

RACE THREE
James McDonald made it three straight wins when Dream Runner was far too strong in the TAB Highway (1800 metres).
Although going from $2.40 out to a peak of $3.30 at the jump, the Keith Dryden-trained galloper was responsible for nearly a quarter of the total investment.
Zoo Station ($6-$7.50-$5.50) firmed up late while Birdonawinningpost ($9.50-$5.50-$7) was specked early in the day before getting a little soft.

RACE FOUR
Matowatakpe upset the apple cart in the Billy Camer Handicap (1500 metres).
Bjorn Baker’s rep was $11-$8 on the day but only attracted small money compared to some of his rivals.
Loveplanet was the big mover earlier in the day. Opening $3.20 this morning, it bottomed out at $2.80 before a serious drift closer to jump time saw it start $3.80 – it’s best price all week!
Loveplanet held the most money in front of Re Edit ($6.50) and Great House ($6-$7).

RACE FIVE
Gemmahra landed some nice eachway bets when taking out the Midway Handicap (1800 metres).
Opening $12 on Wednesday and $10 this morning, Gemmahra stalked the leader Margie Bee ($8.50-$9.50-$8) before claiming that runner on straightening. Ridden a treat by Glen Boss, the Gwenda Markwell-trained mare held off the finish of roughie Tochi ($51) to get the prize.
Bazooka ($5) flew home for third while the long range move for Savvy Crown ($17 on Wednesday) didn’t come off.

Phoebetor was rock solid in the market for the running of the Heineken Missile Stakes (1200 metres).
TAB traders weren’t taking any chances with the Michael Costa-trained gelding who hovered around the $5.50-$6 mark for most of the afternoon.
Kolding ($4.80-$3.10) was the big mover while Fasika peaked at $3.20 and briefly lost favouritism to Kolding before jumping $2.90.

RACE EIGHT
Paulele was a big drifter for the Fujitsu General Rosebud (1100 metres).
The Godolphin runner went $5.50-$9 on the day despite being the third most popular runner in terms of money taken.
Remarque ($3.20-$2.80) went around with nearly three times as much as anything else in the race while the money for Sky Command, strong all week once opening at $7.50, dried up late. She went $4.40-$3.80 and back out to $5.50.
Of the others, In The Congo ($5-$4.40) had plenty of admirers.

RACE NINE
Destination was a late firmer in the Little Wings Handicap (1100 metres).
After being made Lizzie Jelfs’ ‘Pick of the Yard’ on SKY Thoroughbred Central, Destination went $9-$7.50 and went on to lead throughout for jockey Kerrin McEvoy.
Stablemate Enfleurage ($4.80-$4.60) was the most popular runner in terms of money taken in front of Hulk ($5-$6).

RACE TEN
Kingsheir was a drifter but raced clear to score an impressive win in the ATC Thank You Jockeys Handicap (1300 metres).
The Team Hawkes runner, handled by Brenton Avdulla, went $3.10-$4.80 after peaking at $5. Despite getting out, he was still the second most popular runner in the race.
Tycoonist ($3.90-$3.30) held the most and in fact was responsible for twice the amount of money than the winner.
Academy ($5.50-$3.80) was a sharp firmer while Handspun ($7.50-$10-$8.50) had admirers.

RACE THREE
Lombardo was very soft late in the Jockeys Celebration Day Sprint (1100 metres).
Although jumping favourite, Lombardo went $3.10-$4.40 although it was clearly the most popular runner in terms of money taken.
Zorros Dream ($8.50) went around as the second most popular galloper and was TAB’s worst result. Lombardo held a quarter of the total investment.

RACE FOUR
Turaath had consistent support throughout the day leading into the running of the VRC Member Julie Purnell Plate (1410 metres).
The Maddie Raymond galloper was $12 on Wednesday and opened $6.50 this morning, however, got out a touch to $8.50 at start time.
It was one of the better supported runners but Lindhout ($2.50-$3.10) carried the bulk of investments. It was 10 times as popular as the winner and was responsible for 43 percent of the market.

RACE FIVE
The most confident move in the VRC Member Kate Crosby Sprint (1100 metres) was for the winner, Miss Albania.
The daughter of Magnus was backed from $6.50-$5 on the day and was the second most popular runner in terms of money taken. She held 20 percent of the money.
Punters nailed the race as Oxley Road, the runner-up, jumped $6 after being $4.40 in the morning but he held the most money.

RACE SIX
Groundswell defied the drift to land the money after leading throughout in the VRC Season Premiere Plate (1410 metres).
Opening the day as $3.20 second pick, Groundwell got out to $4.40 at the jump to be on the second line of betting with Red Can Man ($3.90-$4.40).
King Magnus ($3-$2.80) continued to have strong backing on the day after TAB went up $6 on Wednesday. Overall, King Magnus held over half the total investment.

RACE SEVEN
One of the ‘good things’ of the day just got there in the VRC Member Justin Hoy Trophy (2000 metres).
Hosier jumped $1.60 favourite after being $1.80 in the morning.
Going around four times as popular as anything else in the race, Hosier was responsible for 44 percent of the money.
Tooradin ($11-$17-$15) was best backed outside the fav.

RACE EIGHT
One of the more popular gallopers at TAB saluted in the World Horse Racing Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200 metres).
The Astrologist always seems to have support whenever it goes around and today was no different, jumping a $6 chance and the second best supported runner behind Aysar ($8-$4.80-$5).
Those two were the only ones to hold six figures with TAB but it was a very open betting affair with moves for a number of runners.
Among those were Order Of Command ($8-$9), Banquo ($7), Too Good Too Hard ($11-$10) and even Tactical Advantage ($61-$34-$51).
