RANDWICK

RACE ONE

Favourite backers were on good terms with themselves after Caps Boy saluted in the TAB Highway Handicap (1800 metres).

The Mark Gee-trained runner came with a well-timed run down the straight to overhaul the frontrunners, getting up at $5 on TAB Fixed Odds.

Rostam ($6-$12) ran on strongly from the second half of the field for second while Senatorial ($14-$12) caught the eye in third.

RACE TWO

One of the best backed runners all day landed the cash in the Catanach’s Handicap (2400 metres).

She’s Ideel ($1.75) was popular right throughout the week and that support continued today. The Bjorn Baker-mare held 72 percent of the market.

Jason Collett timed his run perfectly on the Dundeel mare, coming from midfield to issue a challenge at the top of the straight. Dark Pearl ($6-$7) fought on valiantly after striking the front early in the home stretch while Birth Of Venus ($3.70-$4.60) was a distant third.

BETS: She’s Ideel $3,200 @ $1.85, $2,000 @ $1.85, $1,300 @ $1.85, $1,200 @ $1.85,

BETS: Our Fun $1,000 @ $5

RACE THREE

It was tight but favourite backers made it three-for-three to start the day at Randwick.

God Of Thunder ($2.50) was sensationally backed and held nearly five times the amount of money than anything else in the race.

Parked back on rails and looking for room, jockey Brock Ryan found clear running early in the straight but the four-year-old needed to pick up sufficiently to grab the frontrunners.

Arriving just in time, God Of Thunder defeated Miss Exfactor ($11) and Royal Witness ($12). Coruscate and Baller, both jumping at $5, were the best supported to beat the fav.

BETS: God Of Thunder $2,000 @ $2.50 TWICE, $8,000 @ $2.40, $2,863 @ $2.40

RACE FOUR

Supreme Idea caused an upset by leading throughout to claim the Darley Lohnro Plate (1000 metres).

Rated a treat by Tim Clark, the Anthony Freedman runner led and booted clear in the straight to salute at odds of $16.

The winner didn’t attract a great deal of attention with most of the focus on Dame Giselle ($1.85-$1.65) and Ticket To Ride ($8), with the latter being specked at eachway odds.

BETS: Supreme Idea $500 e/w @ $16/$2.90

BETS: Dame Giselle $4,286 @ $1.70, $4,000 @ $1.70, $2,500 @ $1.70, $2,400 @ $1.85, $2,250 @ $1.70, $1,500 @ $1.70, $1,384 @ $1.70, $1,200 @ $1.70, $4,000 @ $1.65, $3,580 @ $1.65, $3,000 @ $1.65

RACE FIVE

Special Reward benefitted from tracking the speed when proving too strong in the Celllarbrations Southern Cross Stakes (1200 metres).

Sitting off the leaders Jungle Edge ($3.20-$6) and Ashlor ($9.50-$11-$9.50), Special Reward ($2.40-$3) peeled off them at the top of the straight and finished too well for his rivals.

Cascadian was heavily tried and went $4.20-$3.40 but ran on strongly at the finish to wind up second just in front of Jungle Edge.

Cascadian was nearly twice as popular as anything else in the race.

BETS:

BETS: Desert Lord $1,500 @ $4.20, $5,000 @ $2.10 PLACE

BETS: Cascadian $2,200 @ $3.80, $2,000 @ $3.60, $1,500 @ $3.50, $4,500 @ $3.40, $3,600 @ $3.40, $2,000 @ $3.40, $6,600 @ $1.85 PLACE

RACE SEVEN

Libertini went around as a very costly favourite in the TAB Light Fingers Stakes (1200 metres).

The Anthony Cummings-trained runner was one of the best backed horses all day despite starting an odds-on favourite.

Libertini stepped out at $1.85 but after racing in the back half of the field simply couldn’t make sufficient ground to peg back those up front.

In the end it was a Godolphin trifecta with Flit ($6-$11) defying a betting drift to beat Lyre ($5.50) and Kiamichi ($5-$12).

BETS: Flit $1,000 @ $10

BETS: Libertini $3,000 @ $2, $2,000 @ $1.85 MULTIPLE TIMES

RACE EIGHT

Alizee defied the betting drift to take out the Aquis Apollo Stakes (1400 metres).

Jockey Hugh Bowman had the Godolphin mare positioned behind the leader Hush Writer, sticking to the inside running on straightening when the frontrunner started feeling the pinch.

Initially installed a $2.80 favourite earlier in the week, Alizee blew out to a $3.50 second pick but managed to hold off the well-tried Dreamforce ($4.40-$3.30-$2.60 fav) which was a significant go.

Happy Clapper went around as the third best backed runner outside the quinella pairing.

BETS: Alizee $3,000 @ $3.20

BETS: Dreamforce $5,000 @ $2.70, $2,100 @ $2.70, $2,000 @ $2.70 MULTIPLE TIMES

RACE NINE

Sweet Deal was largely ignored by punters in the Robrick Lodge Triscay Stakes (1200 metres).

The John Thompson runner was $9 this morning but blew out to $13 and had little interest from TAB customers who chose to focus their attention on Reelem In Ruby ($6-$8), Fiesta ($8-$6.50), Seasons ($7.50-$5) and Dawn Dawn ($8.50).

Sweet Deal led throughout for Nash Rawiller to beat Spiritual Pursuit ($51) and Pohutukawa ($7.50).

RACE TEN

Despite losing favouritism late in betting, Vegadaze led throughout to claim The Schweppes Handicap (1300 metres).

Rated to perfection by Jean Van Overmeire, Vegadaze defied the blow from $3.20 in the morning to jump a $4.60 second pick.

Royal Celebration overtook him for favouritism having been backed from $5-$4.40.

Travancore ($14) and Cuba ($14-$5.50) had admirers, especially the latter, which continually firmed throughout the afternoon.

BETS: Vegadaze $1,000 @ $4.20, $1,900 @ $3.50

BETS: Royal Celebration $4,000 @ $4.40

FLEMINGTON

RACE ONE

Several big bets were paid out after Mount Tabora led throughout in The Glorious Goodwood (1600 metres).

Opening the day as a $3.30 chance, the gelding drifted slightly out to $3.60 but did open $4.60 on Wednesday when markets were first released.

Exasperate ($7.50-$9) and Sunday Pray ($7.50-$5.50) filled the minors. Mount Tabora went around as the most popular horse with 44 percent of the total investment.

BETS: Mount Tabora $4,500 @ $3.60, $10,000 e/w @ $3.30/$1.90

BETS: Over Exposure $1,000 @ $3.80 TWICE, $2,000 @ $3.70

RACE TWO

Craig Williams rode the perfect race on Fabric in the Furphy Ale Trophy (1600 metres).

The heavily tried mare went straight to the top and Williams rated her perfectly, with the pair racing clear to salute at $2.70 on TAB Fixed Odds. She actually drifted from a quote of $2.10 in the morning but that was mainly due to the fact good money came for Goldifox ($5-$4).

BETS: Fabric $1,500 @ $2.70, $5,000 @ $2.50

BETS: Goldifox $6,400 @ $4.20, $2,000 @ $4.20, $2,200 @ $4

RACE THREE

One of the least favoured runners in the race proved too good in the Talindert Stakes (1100 metres).

Ole Kirk ($21-$34) was a drifter throughout the day but handled the straight best, bursting through between Nitrous ($11-$6.50) and Mildred ($4-$6) over on the far side to get the verdict.

Mildred was the most popular runner with about 25 percent of the investment while River Night ($7-$5.50-$6) attracted solid eachway support. Of the others, Amish Boy was carrying a few big bets too.

BETS: Amish Boy $2,000 x $4,000 e/w @ $11/$3.30

BETS: Mildred $2,000 @ $5.50

RACE FOUR

RACE FIVE

Alligator Blood was the popular elect in the C.S Hayes Stakes (1400 metres) and delivered the goods for its backers.

Finding the front for Ryan Maloney, the pair were kept company by second elect Catalyst ($2.70-$3) and staged a two-horse war down the Flemington straight.

Kicking hard, Alligator Blood ($2-$1.80) narrowly got the verdict in front of a gallant Catalyst. Between the pair they dominated the hold with 82 percent of the total investment riding on them.

BETS: Alligator Blood $3,000 @ $2, $2,500 @ $2, $2,000 @ $2, $2,000 @ $1.90 MULTIPLE TIMES, $4,000 @ $1.80, $3,000 @ $1.80

BETS: Catalyst $8,080 @ $3, $1,500 @ $3 TWICE, $1,400 @ $3, $1,000 @ $3 MULTIPLE TIMES

RACE SIX

N/A

RACE SEVEN

Favourite backers were sent packing after Gytrash caused a boilover in the Group One Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (1000 metres).

The Gordon Richards runner had attracted some money, however, it paled in comparison to what came for Nature Strip ($1.50), Redzel ($7.50) and Loving Gaby ($5.50).

Between those three runners they commanded a whopping 91 percent of the total investment on the race. Nature Strip alone held more than Redzel and Loving Gaby combined, not to mention the amount of multis he was involved in too.

Gytrash stayed on the far side along with Redzel and saluted at $21 on TAB Fixed Odds, with Redzel and Loving Gaby filling the minors.

BETS: Nature Strip $4,500 @ $1.50, $2,000 @ $1.50 MULTIPLE TIMES, $8,000 @ $1.45, $6,665 @ $1.45, $3,000 @ $1.45 MULTIPLE TIMES

RACE NINE

Galaxy Raider provided a rough finish for punters when flying from last to claim The Hong Kong Jockey Club Trophy (1400 metres).

Being sent around as an $18 chance, the Grahame Begg-trained gelding hovered around that quote for most of the day and had some good support at the eachway odds.

In a fantastic betting race, Star Missile ($5.50-$3.80) was a good go while Blazejowski ($4.40-$5) had its admirers once again. Those two gallopers were easily the most popular.

Admirals Joker ($6.50) had good money come for it as did Rox The Castle ($12) at the price.

BETS: Galaxy Raider $650 @ $19, $600 e/w @ $19/$5, $500 e/w @ $18/$4.60, $500 @ $16

BETS: Admirals Joker $1,000 @ $7 TWICE

BETS: Star Missile $6,000 @ $4

BETS: EF Troop $1,500 @ $12
