2022 CF Orr Stakes Speed Map

It looks like it will be a comfortable lead for Lightsaber, who looks the sole early speed. Wild Planet can sit handy from a good draw while Tofane can slide forward. The likes of I’m Thunderstruck and Inspiration Girl will drag back to near last. Cascadian has gate one and can sit closer in the run than normal.

2022 CF Orr Stakes Runner Preview

1. I’m Thunderstruck: High quality animal that resumes. Came of age in the Spring, winning the Toorak and Golden Eagle. His recent jumpout was strong but he will need luck from the wide gate. If he does get a drag into the race, he’ll take beating.

2. Cascadian: He had a super Spring prep without winning. He can be a thinker, but his recent trial was encouraging and from gate one, I’d love to see him use that to advantage. If so, a win wouldn’t entirely shock even though he gets better as the prep goes on.

3. Behemoth: Jury is out IMO. He did win the Memsie last Spring, but it’s been an awful form reference and his runs since have been just fair. Fair in the sense he will need to improve a fair bit on them to be the winner here, and although he gets J Kah, I am happy to risk him at the price.

4. Wild Planet: Resumed in the Australia Stakes where he got a fair way out of his ground, but was okay late without threatening behind Marabi. He can sit in the first few from the gate and up to 1400m, I think he’s in with a shout as a first four threat.

5. Secret Blaze: Handy stayer that is using that as a prep run for something later on this prep, so happy to watch him go around.

6. Just Folk: He’s not a Group l horse and won a pretty weak Group ll in the Spring, so can’t see him troubling this lot.

7. Sinawann: Deserving favourite. Resumed in the Australia Stakes and worked home strongly late behind Marabi in a good return after smashing the clock in the Spring via a Kevin Heffernan win at this track/distance. Looks set up for this and for mine is the one to beat.

8. Tofane:  Genuine mare that is around the mark more often than not. Form just tapered off somewhat towards the end of the Spring but was far from disgraced. With a positive steer, she can threaten.

9.  Sierra Sue: Market will be fascinating with this mare. Surprised some when a Group l winner in the Spring given she did have a long run of outs. Amazingly, it took a Mildure Cup for her to find her groove. Recent jumpout was good and likes the track/distance.

10. Inspirational Girl: Classy mare that resumes after just a one run Spring prep where she was warming to the task late at this track/distance. From the gate, and her trial, this is a prep run, but she’s a must for exotics.

11. Lighthouse: She’s hard fit and in form from a good draw. Just lost sight of the bunny in the John Dillon but was good late behind Open Minded. I’m not sure she’s good enough to win, but definitely including in multiples.

12. Llightsaber: This is the one at a price I can back. He’s the map horse with the lead solely his, and three year olds have a good record in this race. Far from disgraced fresh in the Australia Stales behind Marabi and stable has a great record in this race. Key winning chance.

2022 CF Orr Stakes $100 Betting Strategy:

Two horses I’m backing. $80 Win on Sinawann at $4.20 while the $20 saver is on Lightsaber at $13. Sinawann looks the horse best prepped for this, while the map looks ideal for Lightsaber.

Group l Strategy Outlay: $3170
Group l Strategy Return: $8820.6
